These guys funnin' comments aside, barter may work but in CR cash is king, especially with a fresh-to-you Chica. They can't pay rent or school-supplies with an iPod.

Cash may be king in Cr but you also might be surprised at how willing many chicas are to barder if it is something they want and is very expensive here in CR. Over the years I have traded MP3 players, Planchas (hair straightners), inexpensive cameras (in the states but expensive here), a very inexpensive cell phone, and even cloths (especially if it is clothes for their K*ds). Several years ago when they were more popular than now, I brought 12 MP3 players which I had bought for about $25 each back from the states--traded all of them for sessions within less than 3 months. I have traded probably 25 planchas over the years. The plancha I get I buy on sale at Sallys (I get friends to pick them up for me) usually for around $30. This brand and model costs over $100 here. I am getting a hell of a deal and the chicas think they are also! Everyone is happy. Anything electronic is much more expensive here and the chicas will in many cases barder. I have a friend who got his favorita to agree to spend 5 days and nights with him for a blackberry that was refurbished, not new!! Biggest problem is knowing what is in demand at the moment and is much less expensive in the states than here.

BangBang - What brand and model?

The brand I buy is Filbere de Paris. I just checked and Sally's has about 8 different ones on sale for about $34 right now. They very in width from 1" to 1 1/2". Most chicas prefer 1 1/2" - 2 1/2" widths. One of them (#345821) is very good and is the one I have bought most of the time. Sallys has several other brands most of which are fine. Main thing with Latinas' hair is that it heats up to over 400 degrees F. Around 450 is best! A lot of the cheap brands will not get hot enough for latinas' hair. Hope this helps!

Try to buy one that is at least 1.5 inches wide. The thinner ones take forever to straighten hair. I'm looking for a Babyliss model for my wife.

In years past, those $20 MP player/USB flash drives were hot. I know a few guys who bartered them for a session.

A reminder to anyone thinking that they can simply copy what BB57 does, note that he lives in San Jose and has a large network of chica friends and other acquaintances and so this can work with them. A gringo tourist monger fresh off the plane isn't going to get an HDR Colombiana in exchange for a cheap camera or other trinket.

I appreciate Brother HikerTom for making this essential point so well. Remember this all was a response to a newbie with an unknown level of Spanish. Very valuable insights and suggestions by Brothers BB57 and Orange for the more experienced however.

I traded IPOD speakers one time to a high end HDR chica who saw them and just had to have them, but it was unplanned on my part and it was at the end of the session.

HikerTom and Jazzbo,

I admit I, and others living here, may have an advantage when it comes to bartering with the chicas, but I still believe just about anyone can do it. I did it before I moved here many times; I know other guys who do it every trip here; and chicas love a bargain. And what better bargain in their eyes than giving up a $50-$60-$80 or even $100 session for something that costs well over $100 HERE. As for as the "cheap camera or other trinkets", the camera I referred to cost about $150 HERE; the MP3 players at the time were well over $100 HERE; the 'planchas' that I get cost over $100 HERE (the model I buy most often is $160 HERE). HERE is the key factor. The chicas know what these items cost HERE; not in the states, so they do see bartering a session for them as a great deal!! If a guy offers a $60-$80 chica something she knows costs $150 here, she is going to also think he sees her as having a higher value. Anytime I am trying to barter, I never discuss her "regular" price.

No, I do not think I have ever tried it very often with a chica I had not sessioned with previously. But if a guy meets and sessions with a chica and likes her and wants to session with her again, the chances are very good she might barter for something she would like to have and conciders it to be of equal or greater value . Plant the idea during the first session, and make it sound like it is something you just happen to have with you, and you would really like to see her again but are running a LITTLE low on cash. Maybe I am wrong about anyone being able to do it, but I have been doing it ever since my second trip to CR over 15 years ago. And, YES, I did it a couple of times with HDR Colombianas before I moved here! I am of the opinion that if I can barter with these chicas, ANYONE CAN!!!! But then I am sure it would not be something everyone would even want to do--I just happen to like the challenge. OH, and another idea with items that are very inexpensive like MP3 players--trade it for a 1/2 price session!! This is really easy to accomplish with the chicas. And I used the MP3 just as an example - it probably would not work since they seem to not be even close to as popular as they were a couple of years ago. JMHO
