So, you are inviting a young honey to accompany you back to the land of the big PX? :D

Absolutely, positively, never, nada, no way. But Thanks for caring

Ok, Ok, for you others:

So as Paul Harvey would say “and now you know the rest of the story”

Here is why I asked the original question:

Three weeks ago I reconnected with a special friend that I have known for the past five years. She went thru a rough ‘bout with life, but claims (and I believe) she has her act under control, now. While on our long weekend I made mention of my travels to other parts of the Southern world. Not thinking much of it at the time, she brought it up again in conversation a few times.

Getting a little tired of it, I Popped off and said “if you get a passport maybe you could meet me in XXX”. Knowing full well that her attention span has never been there long enough to do anything past getting her next meal. I really thought, there is no why in heck she will go to the government office and go thru any type of effort to get this done and it will die on its own weight. But, that was the old girl not the new and improved version (which she really is )

Then came the call that she claims she actually did go to the office and gave me the line about, two weeks and $75 bucks, and could I help with some $$$. No, it is not the 1st time she has asked nor is the 1st time I have sent. I have a score card and giving credit to a person I enjoy spending time with is not an issue for me. She actually understands and abides by the GSS credit company terms. Unfortunately, in this converstaion, she also mentioned something about wanting to buy the neighbors mongrel puppy down the street. Not part of the deal and not something for which credit shall be granted.

And that is when I turned to my good ole brothers here on CRT. To get the real skinny on what is involved in getting a CR passport. Unfortunately for her, the story smelled like a rat, talked like a rat and I just kind thought there might be a rat. Not wanting to accuse her of anything, but also wanting to renege on my “out of country” offer, in the most politcaly correct way possible. I thought it best to just give her all the rope she wanted and see if she would tie the knot herself.

In a second email and phone conversation today, she did, and even climbed up on the crate and jumped off. Now it is all the” I am sorrys in the world” and I told her “you cant get that eye back”, maybe next time.

Having the info from those serious responders helped me out of a problem. Thank You. The jabs from the others reminded me to keep my wits about me.

Thanks for sharing - as you know I have had my share of similar stories as have most on the board. You sharing the details of yours is the most helpful. Most of us keep these things to ourselves and alot of people could gain from our mis-steps as well.

Peace,

DR

No, she did not. Heck, from the on set we were only talking about a $17 or $18 Difference.

But when you start down the slippery slop you need to have a very good memory. She did not..... Armed with a little intel and understanding how things work make easy prey of those that attempt to deceive.
