I haven't seen this written up so I will mention it here: Bill has added two steaks to his menu, a Rib Eye (450gm) and a New York Strip (400gm), either for c10,000. They are from Don Fernando's meat market (in in Escazu and one in Curridibat).

These are far superior to the vast majority of steak available in Costa Rica. They are generally USA tender and with none of the "gamey" flavor typical to CR beef. In my experience, they have been well worth the $20 and it is great to get a good piece of meat in my favorite sports bar! Enjoy.

I think I will try the ribeye at least once. If it is not good. I will go back to a spaghetti only diet at SL.

I have been searching for a good steak in CR for 5 years. Thought I would find one at the Outback Steakhouse in Escazu. Not!

So far the best has been the lomito staek at Princessa Marinas. The tender one is about 1,000.00 colons more than the tuff one! Dont 4 get!

I still got Tony Roma's and TGI Fridays in my sights.

fiddy

Great to here that Bill has added some quality meat in addition to the rest of the menu.

"Don Fernando at SL" had received a passing mention in July '10 but it's important enough to get it's own Thread. Good job, Brother Pac55--he should sell a ton now, with this publicity.

I've eaten the ribeye a few times and can recommend it. For this quality of beef (Don Fernandos is the best market around) 10,000 col is very reasonable.

What has occurred to me is whether the good folks at the SL have the grill and the quality grill master to "git ere done" to the required finish? :?: :?:
