I know a chica that cashed in her slot winnings at HDR then went to the bar to buy drinks, the bar refused a 10k note saying it was fake. She told the bartender she just got it from the cashier, the cashier wouldn't take it back so she took it over to one of the owners (Greg) who looked at it and threatened to throw her out for trying to pass a fake bill in the HDR. She said look at the cameras I just got it from the cashier, he basically said tough shit we don't take any fake bills so it didn't come from here.

read somewhere that 50% of counterfeit u.s. currency is printed in colombia -- not too far away.

Yeah, here is my funny Colombia counterfeit story; about a hundred years ago I did trademark anti-counterfeiting and COL was in my area. The federal police had a special unit that handled all counterfeiting; money, trademarks, you name it. The first major redesign of the twenty happened in 96 or 97 and these feds pulled a gringo K*D off a plane with about a half mil in counterfeit twenties hidden in an art portfolio. Some gal had talked the K*D into smuggling the counterfeits to the states for about 10K in real money; the K*D had teacup ears and figured he could use the money for an operation to get his ears pinned back. That was funny cuze the 1st thing the chief of this unit thought when he saw him was "this bastard has big ears". The 20s looked to be legitimate to me. I wounder if that K*D is still in jail down there :?: :?:

I know the security marks for US currency. Is there a link to see the same for colones? (link - calling on Jazzbo)

I wouldn't know the difference in colones as of now.

And I may be reading more into it than is there, but I do believe they consider the basis of the lies to be justified."
