Actually it's been raining terrible there now. I just saw a news article about 17 people killed in Escazu during a landslide due to so much rain.

Yeap, two days ago they asked if I had an umbrella. When I said "No" she then looked at my Shick trac 3 and took the blades.

5 minutes later I sat down in the front row of the plane and they handed me a knife for my dinner. Go Figure?

Just think how much they can make off these consficated umbrellas. One of the perks of the job

Last month they confiscated the cable lock for my laptop! They said it is because of the new regulations.

New regulations went into effect in September and they have them posted NOWHERE!!! I can't find them anywhere on the web like you can with the US TSA. You cannot find them in the airport either.

The dude that rummaged thru my backpack to find it verified with another chica guard. They concurred that as of Sept they were banned.

It would be nice to know what other inocuous items have now been banned!

Well, I guess I'll now store my key to the cable in a different location. They may be able to rip me off, but at least they won't be able to use or re-sell.

Same thing I'm doing with my umbrella on my next visit. I'm gonna shred pieces at the hotel before I pack it. I figure they'll take it and at least won't be useable.

My cable lock used a combination, not a key...

I buy umbrellas at Dollar Tree for $1 and take three
during the green season, they fall apart on occasion, and I lose them, but they last me through the trip. However, they don't give me that Saks 5th Avenue umbrella advantage with the ticas.

Every country has different regulations on what get onto a plane in a carry-on and what doesn't... Run into it before... Something that cleared security when flying into a country does not pass muster going through security on the way out... It's a bitch though when the regs become a moving target...
