In the 5 years I have been traveling here I had never seen such a generous offering by ANY company here. From like noon till 10pm ALL drinks were 2 for 1. On top of that there were 2 4 foot tables loaded with food. Fried chicken strips, kebobs, hamburgers, meats, cheeses, deserts and ceviche (the owner made himself delicious). The last few days I was hesitant to approach the new owner Joe because he always looked so stressed or mad. Totally understandable in any hospitality business. But as 8pm rolled around and the place emptied I got a chance to talk to him and found him to be very agreeable. He really is trying to change the image of an exclusive cigar bar hotel to a more reasonable casual hotel people can stay at and enjoy themselves. All the room rates and drink prices have come down. Cigars are cigars there are 50 places you can get the type you like so that is no longer the focus. He said his main challenge is keeping girls coming back. All he can hope for is that CRT does not pay them that much so they don't go independent.

For the girls themselves the talent was great. Almost reminiscent of five years ago. There were a couple of original girls there. Pamela of course and Milena was back. There was a hot little spinner named Trisha very sweet and Camilla nice rack pretty face. In total I think there was 12 girls. The girls all had great costumes and were having a great time. Also the policy of the girls not approaching you at the bar is still in effect. If you see something you like you will need to invite them over or go to them.

Hey Azcentral,

Thank you for you nice comments about the SL Halloween Party 10/30 on the other thread you started here on the forum earlier today.

However, Blue Avitar Girl at SL party? Looking through foto`s and trying to remember her?? If you were at the un-questionable fine gathering at HLH until 10:00pm how did you find the time to come to the SL party to drink your warm beer when we wraped up soon after that time ? To quote Berk "This is a place for true opinions" But really? As always I will let the rest of the true membership chime in for the ones who post and l will live and learn from with their reviews. We had over 250 people at SL with 14 servers, a warm beer is possible and not acceptable for any bar, but I could not of asked the my girls/servers to work any harder!

Lets all be fair. I am very happy to have HLH on the rebound but why slam Sportsmens Lodge to get the news out?

All the Best,

Bill

Bill the pictures were throughout the day the blue girl was at DR. Lost all my pics for the day. There were some great costumes at SL. Honestly I did not get to SL till 1030 and left at 1230 not because I was at HLH till close. HLH emptied out at 8pm and I was out of there. Bill I did not intend to slam your party it was great I had a great time. I always visit the SL when in town because you have great food and I can catch up with other CRT. I believe the girls were working very hard. One was so hungry I watched her take bites from her food not in between orders but as she switched from pouring from one bottle to the next. True I was annoyed at the slow response from the bartenders and maybe it was not their fault. If 14 bartenders is the max you can keep in the bar then maybe you should have a couple extra so they can rotate out for breaks and not be running on empty. I saw atleast one that was there since noon. I watched the staff as I waited and all had a deer in headlights look on them. Something else you could consider is setting up a temp cash bar in the lobby that either has well only or beer only. This could help take the pressure off the main bar. Forgive me for being critical but Hospitality has been my business for years. You have done a great job building a rapport with CRT over the years and turning the original small hotel into a premier destination. Bill your party is still the only game in town at night and I will continue to come even if the beer was not cold. IMHO I still think HLH was the best party. But I am only one person. I know there where some "true members" other guys that went to both maybe they will tell me different. When it's great I let people know. When it's not I let them know.

14 bartenders sounds like a lot but when you factor in that they are unorganized chicas with ADD and PMS, they probably do the work of what = 3 good gringo bartenders?

That might be a good idea, well unless chicas are trying to run it...

(sorry Bill, hate I missed it this year)

If you have enough people in any bar you will eventually get one that is not ice cold. The bar area at Sportsmans lodge can only handle so much traffic. I am sure Bill and the staff did as well as could be expected. While I wish HLH the best, the set up there is never going to generate much more than it is now. I have been there many times and they have been out of their 4.00 Pilsens, not to mention the bored, disinterested chicas sitting on the couch.

I am sure HLH put on a good party... step in the right direction for the place
I have spent a few bucks there  and I wish the place luck
Back to the warm beer... I had a chat with Bill on my last trip about the first days of the Esportemens :D
Well things did not look to good way back when... he said you could fire a cannon in the place and not bother anyone  They sold 9 cases of beer the first week
Now when the Imperal truck pulls up... 600 cases fills up the parking down stairs...
I have gotten a hot beer from time to time.. asked for a new one , got it but if there is a party going down . take what you get and be happy ... double up the order

Thank you Truesportman for opening one of my favorite places to visit

And I may be reading more into it than is there, but I do believe they consider the basis of the lies to be justified."

Yeah, back in early 2005 when I first went there, the SL was pretty dead. There'd be days when you didn't see a single chica and no more than 3-4 people in the bar. This could go on for a couple of days. And people didn't mind staying in the courtyard rooms because it was very quiet with so few people in the bar. And there was no Modern nor Mansion wings yet, so guys didn't have a choice.

It is amazing how far the Sl has come. Many local guys and CRT vets laughed at the idea of a hotel/bar with girls in that area. Bill has done an amazing job of reinvesting and adding new features to the SL. In 2006 30 people in the back bar was a big Friday night.

I thought HLH had a nice little party and it was good to see the new owner connecting with CRT, but to compare the two is a little unrealistic. I think this Halloween, Halloween 08 and the CRT Anniversary party of 2006 in no particular order are the three best I have been to.

We were at HLH also, but we left after 30 minutes because we felt like it was a sausage fest. 10 girls or so with 30 or guys. That just didn't do it for us. The girls did look good and the free appetizer buffet was also good though.

As for the servers at the Sportsmans, I would say that they are some of the hardest working girls. I might have been too drunk to notice of any deficiencies, but I felt we were well taken care for both drinks and food especially considering the number of people at the party. I certainly did not have any warm beer. Oh wait, I didn't have any beer period   My hats off to Bill and the girls for a great party :D

I too was at both parties, the free food and 2 for 1 drinks at HLH were great. I talked to Joe a bit the day before and he gave me a tour of the newer rooms. He also gave a few of us a round of free drinks and picked up a round of shots. I thought the atmosphere was more festive (even that non party day) than it had been at HLH for a long time going back to the Zona Blue pre-handicap access ramp days.

I would encourage Joe keep up the good work, I like his changes, and I like his future plans for the place.

Although free food is great, its not how I judge a Halloween party. I don't think it bested ANY of the parties I've attended at the Sportsmens.

If the beer was warm. it's time to get real festive and drink it CR-style: in a glass con hielo. There, problem solved--always glad to be of service.
I'm glad HLH's new ownership has put them back in the game, not least because it's a downhill drunken stumble to my hotel venue of choice--the--what, I really gotta say it?
