I stayed at the castillo last month for the first time, I really liked the room alot, never slept in a place so quiet, clean and great staff, the free breakfast was ok, not great but it was decent, and the sunday cook out was good, the ambiance of the place is hard to beat, never ate at las palmas, will not until I hear better reviews.

Yes you did. Las Palmas puts on the BBQ!

I ate there and in a word it "sucked". Will not be back. Sorry. I really like to say nice stuff.

Well, yes and no on this. Yes, it's the restaurant that actually runs it and cooks the food, but no, because the food is mostly already prepared and right in front of you. I wouldn't judge either by the other. PS: I enjoyed the BBQ the one time I tried it.

I've had the Sunday grilled dinner there. Service is not, "en punto", they did get started late, but given the day, it wasn't a bother. I don't mind leisurely dinners in Costa Rica with good company. The food was good. btw...it was in the garden bar, not the front bar.
