it's interesting from the poll results that so far the winner is mongering just as much regardless of economy.. :P which is great to hear for those of us fortunate enough to continue to fly to CR.

I have always heard that the so-called "sin market" does well during economic downturns. People are going to drink, smoke, gamble, etc. regardless because it makes them feel good. That's even more important when things are bad.

As far as the actual mongering part, as well as everything else once you're actually in the country, it's pretty cheap. I actually save money in CR by going out drinking and eating there vs. my food/drink bill when I'm at home. And although I usually don't, there are plenty of hotels there where I could pay less than my rent here. If it weren't for those $500 plane tickets that some of us have to buy, and the need to physically show up for work sometimes, CR would be swarmed by the members of this board.

Anyway, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it. 8)

Damn shame I used my annual and sick leave earlier in my career on frivolous bush-wa or actually being ill--sure could have used that time now.

Never use your sick for being sick, thats why there are work days, if I am going to feel bad I see no reaosn why I should not share this joy with my fellow co-workers.Never used one hour in over 29 years of presnt job Fishing or hunting are what sick days are for-- I have over 3800 hOURS of sick leave coming to me, with ANTHER 920 DEFFERED VACTION, so right now it take them over 2 1/2 years to lay me off ( I earn more hours wile on sick or vacation time).

I am typeing this on the 14th floor of Mayo right now, waiting for a provider to show up for some fun before my doc apt.

CR zero times this yr. and not for lack of funds in general but useage of funds to try and further my education and also lack of free time for the same reason. But may turn out real soon not a worthwhile endeavor and then have both the time and Xtra $ to do what I think I should be really doing (monger as much as possible more often). Everything works out for a reason. If your already 20X-30X ahead on income compared to CO general populace why bother trying to make it 50X? Isn't 20X-30X good enough if single and no Ch*ld support or alimony etc.???

Life is short and when u get into your 40s + every day spent trying to improve something with your time sweat and energy later on down the line is a calculated formula that more favors the downside, is the gospel truth. Business and Corps. don't like increasing age, best stay in what your doing until retire. THere are some bright exceptions but strongly think majority favors conservatism and devil(s) you already know.

Have been Dom. Repu. and Bog though this yr. though. BOG trip report finally this wknd. and very good trip on the M-ger side. I ate 2X sweet and juicy whore poosy! Yeah haw!

we're pretty much at 100 votes and the clear winner is "mongering as usual regardless of economy". :D

This was a 2 part poll..1st part was to gauge how frequent do we visit CR. The 2nd part was to see whether or not we've slowed down on the chica per day ratio.

Personally, I still do the same number of trips..but with rise in airfare and the whole economic situation..i definitely slowed down a bit as far as chicas per day.

For those that voted "mongering as usual.." are they implying they are still spending just as much on chicas as prior years without any hesitation? You would have to think one has to trim the spendings a little to balance out? :?

With 92 votes 47.62% of the second part disagree :?

I see CRT guys of all income levels on a weekly basis. In general, the guys who come down a lot are tightening the belt down home in order to keep coming down and are more focused on value when they are here. Regular Costa Rican tourism is off way more than monger tourism. Guys are spending less on fishing, gambling etc and being more careful about room rates etc. At the Dunn Inn our "non-monger" tourist business is way off from two years ago. Fortunately, we have replaced it and then some with CRT business.

I dont think your calculation is correct.

The second part there are "30" total votes for Mongering as usual and slow down a bit(which still is mongering) compared to only "9" votes who have retired monger or doing it locally.

I understand this is not a perfect poll..it was designed to just to do a quick survey..i wouldn't take these votes as actual statistics.

What BK has pretty much confirmed has supported this little survey..most of the CRT brothers are continuing to visit CR, mongering as usual but conscious enough to trim spendings a bit here and there to be able to continue to visit CR. Which is pretty much my approach as well.
