Planning a trip to Jaco in late April and the weekend we have planned shows that labour day is that Sunday, May 1. Is this still a good weekend or will most of the women be out of town, similar to mothers day weekend. Thanks

Good question to ask though--it can be a bit confusing as to what's a holiday where. Don't reckon they celebrate the Queen's Birthday either, fine woman though she is. But seriously follow Brother Irish Drifter's CR holiday calendar and ask about them. Warning: US holidays not necessarily celebrated by Ticos can be big-time sausage-fests so get those hotel reservations in early

I didn't even remember the holiday, which probably means it is not a big one. Don't think it is anything that will have chicas going home or not working.

May 1st, one of the cross-quarter days, is for much of the world outside the USA the Labor (or Labour) Day holiday.
