I just seem to be noticing a progression away from general information and more towards social chatting. On a day to day basis it doesn't really matter all that much, but as each of us prepares for our upcoming trips I'm noticing less useful and relevant updates, and for less venues than used to be the case. Is this just my imagination, or do the rest of you have that impression as well?

I agree Shadowman, and there are a couple of users who chime in with their completely irrelevant and derogatory remarks. But I guess you could say we are contributing to the random chat with this thread.

Its a mongering forum not rocket science. I am sure everything you need to know has been rehashed here a million times. That is what the search function is here for...

Agreed but there has been a little more joking and chit-chat lately but hey none of that really bothers me. When serious issues arise we get good discussions on this board.

just to be clear, I have no objection to random fun and chat, in fact I'd go so far as to say that it's necessary for the spirit of community, but I'd still like to see more useful info coming in. The membership used to provide info on all places high and low, and everything in between. I'm just finding that the info these days, what there is of it, seems to be living in a very small and select number of venues instead of everywhere. Almost like commercials. Maybe it's because the boys have branched out and are going to different places. I know I have been, and this isn't a judgment for that in any respect, but it seems like the new school is becoming less adventurous and more localized, and, dare I say it? Gringo-ized. I almost feel like it's gone from being an information source to a commercial and update source for only the most widely known and accessible gringo haunts.

I hate to sound like a nostalgic "well, it was better when.." kind of guy, but to be honest that's exactly how it feels. I'd like to see at least some of the general stuff come out of the back channels and back into the light. I'm just sayin"...

For some of us, CRT isn't just about where the hottest/cheapest/easiest pu*sy is an any given time. It's about brotherhood and camaraderie as well.

Just how many times can you re-hash the same old information??? There are only so many places to talk about, so many chicas to bang, so many reviews and too many of the ubiquitous trip reports... As someone else pointed out, it ain't rocket science...

The active mongering info has now shifted to places other than CR, mainly Medellin, the DR, Pattaya and the PI. Face it, SJO mongering isn't what it used to be, it has gotten worse in general or just the same old-same old, and other places are far better. The only advantage to CR is that it's real close to the USA and very gringo-friendly, perfect for middle-aged fat guys who have never been with a hooker and have never left the US. Hence this board has become more chit-chat oriented.

This board is unique. Many of the members have become 'brothers' over the last 7 years of its existence and so now and again threads veer off on personal tangents but generally lots of good updated information comes up everyday.
The number of offensive or opinionated post are few and usually suppressed quickly.
