srilm I have a question what happens next year with the platinums 75K when United has the 1k club. Is the new tier structure going to still be continentals or is it going to be uniteds? I think united tiers are 25k 50k and 100k. so is the 100k club going to trump the 75k platinums?
Im platinum this year but next year I think im only making it to gold, I wonder how that will fit in the new landscape of tiers, used to be gold was pretty consistent on the upgrades

A good thing to come out of this will be Southwest airlines getting 18 takeoff/landing slots at Newark airport. If you fly out of Newark, the Justice Department has forced Continental to allow more competition. You can now fight for your seat instead of getting one assigned.

It already hurt anybody using continental from Chicago. UA has basically driven our market up. They no longer try to compete, $300 to $550 (about). Now, AA went up to $425. Plus, Mexicana can't be used anymore. The routes on AA used to get us in at 1pm. This earlier route is now priced higher ($50 - $100). The only redeeming factor for me, I have many UA miles, but they will manage to make that difficult.

Simpler, they may just want men to think they are as perfect as they want to appear to them, trying to hide what they consider to be the ugly truth about themselves. And I may be reading more into it than is there, but I do believe they consider the basis of the lies to be justified."

No one knows for sure yet but my guess would be that the first year would see CO's Plats equal to UA's 1K. After the first year, no more 75K status level.

I'm all for raising the elite levels. There's way too many elites out there. I would like to see 3 levels at 50K, 100K and 150K.

Thanks for explaining this. I have been looking to book flights for an trip to SJO out of Chicago and I couldn't beleive it. Almost all flights had overnight layovers. When I found the package I usually get it cost $150 more than usual. I was wondering what was going on.

I was a 1K on United for years yet only got a first class upgrade about half the time.

Most of United’s 737s have only eight seats in first. Continentals 737s usually have double that.

I'm searching for the October trip, and Con is trying around 550.00 for the RT to SJO from IAH. This is just wrong. We need a discount carrier here in Houston.

"We need a discount carrier here in Houston."

A few weeks ago I read article on just that point. A detailed comparing of fares at several airports before and after discount come in, over night a drop. Sorry do not remember where I rear the story I think it was WSJ.
