I am at ground zero as I write this. Not the best experience at Hotel M, not all there fault, electrical transformer blew and no electricity in the whole area so I switched to Amistad. Free U.S. phone calls, comy beds, great location, awesome staff really make LaAmistad my preferred choice. For what it's worth.

Agreed on LA, it has become the number 1A (SL being 1) option for me. Great service, excellent food, over the top friendly staff, and Asta!

Yes, there is a commuter train, yes, it makes noise, yes, it can bother you if you let it, yes it has been worse but Matt worked on it. However, it is not obnoxious, to tell the truth it really doesn't bother me and no, it is not a deal breaker when you weigh all the good things the LaAmistad offers.

Incoming71: The closest ATM is Hospital Calderon. As you leave LA turn left and head uphill a block. The hospital is to your front. Go around to the left hand side of the hospital and there are two ATMs on the covered entryway.

Thanks for the info Wiz. I actually don't mind trains either as long as the building doesn't rattle. I can take care of that with one of the chicas.

I tried the ATM at the hospital once, and my card didn't work, so yours may not either. I distrust the INS machines, so I always use the one inside the Colonial or the ones inside the Plaza Avenida mini-mall. Short walk from the Amistad.

During the week I like the bank in the INS building, they give you a number and you sit and wait till your number is called. Reminds me of the Deli Dept in my Supermarket back in the US.

The train is one thing but try living next to a squawking parrot. The people next door have a parrot or some kind of bird that makes the most irritating squawking nosie in the afternoon. If I could only see it I would try to shoot it and end its misery.

Now that would bother me.
