http://www.amcostarica.com/morenews4.htm Looking for minors was mentioned again. I think the gov't is projecting things that happen with Ticos to gringos. What I mean is that I really don't think this is a problem with gringos or in gringo places in general. Not saying it has never happened. Let's just say that this type of thing happens a lot more with locals and not just with p4p.

Here's the article from Inside Costa Rica:

27 Detained In Jacó

The tourist town of Jacó in the central Pacific was the scene of an intense police operation over the weekend, when members of the Fuerza Pública, migración (immigration) and others, swooped on the small town for a spot check. In total 27 people - 3 men and 24 women - were detained between Saturday evening and the early hours of Sunday morning.

Authorities say all 27 were with "irregular immigration status", that is their legal presence in Costa Rica was in doubt, while some of the detained were linked to various crimes. Police also confiscated a quantity of illegal drugs. Jacó is the most popular and problematic beach in Costa Rica mainly due to the prostitution and drug trade.

How convenient to blame hookers for Jaco's problems. No, it's not due to prostitution and drugs. It's due to drugs only. And the ladrones. And the inadequate police force (I use the term loosely).
