My non-stop flight from Orlando to San Jose is a great deal for $238 anytime of the year ,,,as with most of my flights I check the price the next day to see if its moved (up or down) my flight went to $266 a few days later and pretty much stayed right there for 3 weeks. Tonight (5 days before wheels down) its gone up over $200 also a flight out of tampa (thur Miami) are over $500 but can still catch that flight out of Orlando thur Miami for around $260 .....makes no sense ...glad I booked early

Just booked my FLL to SJO direct for under $200 despite that amount including the taxes, fees, and the annual membership fee ($39.95) to Spirit Air's $9 fare club. Even with 1 checked bag & one small carry on, I'm only in about $216 round trip.

Like you showed, it never hurts to book in advance provided the carrier is financially stable. Mexicana seems to be in difficulty these days but Spirit & Jet Blue seem to be ok at the moment.

Nice price from C.Florida.

Be thankful... Only direct flight out of IAH to SJO is on Continental... $318 r/t any day of the year, which in and of itself it's so bad, but once you add the $367 in taxes it borders on ridiculous... :?

AA out of MIA was around 450.00 for the last month or so. Last Friday I received an email from sidestep that it was 329.55 out the door and booked it. The flights to and from have about 40 plus seats still empty. So, yes it is a gamble.

Nice. Did the same thing last week for Sep 10-13. $9 fare club including bag fees and seat fees(took the exit row for more leg space) PLUS a $50OFF online coupon, I am $207 all in from FLL. 1st NFL weekend and UM v. OSU, gonna be great times!!

On the other hand, if you wait until later, and the flight is undersold, the airline will dump cheap seats on the market to help sell out the flight.

With all the cutback in schedules and flights, the chance of that these days is pretty slim. Flights are usually full or close to it, with few exceptions. Taca must be doing well out of JFK. Their fares have been constantly around $600 (with taxes) while the competition is around $400.

Now that's an understatement for you. They've had 3 planes repo'd already and are relying on some sleazy legalism to save the rest. They owe banks/ AC leasing outfits multi-millions that it looks like they will never pay. See Brother Srilm's Post about the repo men that WILL get their targets--somewhere, somehow. Oh and BTW where are they get gonna crews/ servicing for these planes, wherever they go? There's lotsa hungry pilots no doubt but the fuel/landing fees/ servicing will be strictly COD--and they have no free cash nor credit anywhere.
Put it this way: The flight options going south have been somewhat narrowed, especially for our West Coast Brothers.
