I just reserved my room at the Sportsmens lodge. The receptionist told me that she would email me a confirmation. I called her back after 2 hours because I had not recieved it yet and she told me she emailed it right after we spoke the first time. After reconfirming emails I sent her an email just to make sure she had mine right. Its now been over 6 hours and I still have not recieved my email confirmation. I was just wondering if anyone else has been having trouble getting emails form the Sportsmen lodge???

just to give you a little insight on how the sportmens handles things....the days that you have requested are written in a book that sits on the desk in the lobby ....in pencil !!! sounds crazy but that's how they do it !!! if you want a confirmation ....just call back and give them your name , they will open the book and look for your name (ask them what room you are in and the rate) it will take a few minutes but this system works for them ...I have booked rooms over 10 times and yet to have a problem....

When I check in I always think to myself ....this cant be the only way they can validate a resavation ....what if they had a pissed off employee and on their last day they grabbed the "book" and destroyed it ....but on every trip I watch them check me in using that book written in pencil

I stayed there a couple of years ago and had the same types of issues. I finally called and confirmed the room and dates verbally.

When we got there, surprise! At least they still HAD the reservation, but they had cut a couple of days off at the end and we had to move out of the room I had reserved. The first change was right on the courtyard, and the room smelled like they had emptied a few cans of insecticide right before we walked in the door. We refused that room, and I think the next one also had some problems. We finally ended up being moved to the big room right at the entryway, and that was fine.

Mine is hit and miss on speedy delivery. I just called them Friday afternoon to go ahead and pre-pay my whole reservation there during Labor Day and they did. They said they would send me confirmation. Another time I did this it took a while. So even though they said they did right then it still took overnight to get to my inbox. I received it Sat.AM..

Yency and Manfred always Email back, but I don't expect the Email in a certain time frame. It is usually a 2 step email process. Me asking for what I want and them telling me what is available. Once we agree, the confirmation comes very soon after. Not once has there been a bait n switch or have I lost the room in between Emails.

If you need instant confirmations, I would do as suggested above and call.

I always get the email within a few minutes of reserving the room. It's possible your spam filter or junk e-mail folder is catching the email.

Gentlemen,

This is the issue we have been dealing with for a few months now. Spam filters set so sensitive that many simply do not get through especially mail from Costa Rica where a lot of spam emails go out for online Casinos and Pharmacies. If we did not answer our email as a routine way of doing things at SL we would not be in business. Please call us toll free if you have not received an expected email from us within four hours. 1-800-291-2798. Desk hours 8:00am until 11:00pm local time daily.

Thanks,

Bill

I agree if it's urgent, but I encourage businesses that I deal with to use email. It's efficient and convenient.

Also in case there's a question later about confirmation numbers, number of days booked, which room, etc., you have printable evidence both ways. I also do that at my dentist, etc.

I have stayed at the SL before and had the same confirmation issue with email not being received timely. I believe them when they say they sent it. If you call and confirm your reservation I wouldn't worry about it. They are a reputable hotel. Besides even if you get an email with a confirmation that doesn't mean double bookings still can't happen just ask Marriott or Hilton properties.
