Probably the biggest whore house in central America that is also a casino where people drink to excess and often do drugs is what the Del Rey is. Expect the occasional shots to be fired there. That kind of over the top vibe draws that element for sure. It that type of place existed in the US, shootings and drive-bys would be regular Friday night events. Not a huge deal but the potential is always there even in San Jose. One more reason for me to not be crazy about the Del Rey.

Two shooting incidents result in three persons wounded

Gunmen believed to be unhappy patrons shot up a well-known San José nightspot and a Ciudad Nelly couple were shot by occupants in another vehicle in separate incidents late Tuesday. Fuerza Pública officers captured three men, 20, 25 and 28, in the San José shooting after chasing a vehicle to San Francisco de Dos Rios, said the Judicial Investigating Organization. The shooting happened at facilities operated by the Hotel Del Rey, which police described as being near Parque Morazán. A guard sustained a bullet in the leg, agents said. He was identified by the last name of Cerdas with the age of 25 years.

The shooting happened after security personnel ejected three persons for unspecified reasons. A short time later a vehicle passed by and shots rang out. There may have been as many as eight shots. Most of the bullets either broke windows or lodged in a door. The arrests took place early Wednesday. It was on the highway near Playa Hermosa where the Ciudad Nelly couple said they were fired upon. They were traveling from their hometown in a pickup when a blue vehicle approached and shots were fired. The woman, identified by the last name of Cordero, age 25, suffered a bullet wound in the right arm. The man, identified by the last name of Quelly, age 36, received two bullets in the stomach. The Judicial Investigating Organization in nearby Jacó is in charge of the case. The shooting happened about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

It was all over local TV news here, no cover up. One of my guest was playing in the poker room when it happened. The news account has it right. The door was the back bar door closest to the new poker room. Eight or so shots in rapid succesion one hitting the guard in the leg, the rest breaking windows and some hitting the back elevator door. Thank goodness it was that late in the mornign or it could have been really bad.

Wow that is actually really bad. Thankfully no one was killed. At peak hours I am sure a chica or visitor would have been taken out if bullets hit the elevator.

There is one bullet dent in the elevator. At midnight it is highly likely a number of people would have been wounded.

Gentlemen, and here is the difference, two guys pulled pistols in front of my store. A dispute between Disciples and Vice Lords. Do you guys know turf war. A drive by action at each other, although concerning, better than a teenager fighting for turf that he doesn't even understand. It was the older guys. It is sick, to see a guy reach under a seat and pull out a weapon. A cruel world we live. The Police showed up after, but like usual, nobody knows anything.
