I'm sure none of this will be any surprise to any regulars, but here is my experience with the Dunn Inn. I primarily stayed in room 9, but moved to room 3 for the last day/night.

Room 9 was very nice, very clean, and had excellent wireless internet reception. The noise from the street in the morning was almost unnoticeable. The cons were the shower's poor water pressure and only marginally hot temperature; also the huge stained glass window, while quite pretty, was also very bright in the morning and woke me up too early each day. Curtains would have been much appreciated!

Room 3 was upstairs, and while smaller was just as nice. The shower had great water pressure and was also very hot. Wireless was also excellent. I never noticed any outside noise except when I opened the balcony door. This was a cheaper room, but I liked it better.

The beds in both rooms were harder than I prefer.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay quite a bit.

PS There is a tiny restaurant right down the street called (I think) Cafeteria Suerte de Opio. After the first morning, I skipped the Dunn's continental breakfast & coffee and ate breakfast there. The food was good and the coffee was outstanding.

Thanks for the detailed review of the rooms.

I'm considering the Dunn so your insight is much appreciated. Might I ask what pricing level room 3 fell under?

Thanks.

Maxbass is not a CRT VIP member, so his price is higher. Looks like room 3 is a deluxe room.

I stayed in the corner room 4 and paid $60 tax included as a VIP member. I think it will be $65 for a non member.
I like this hotel very much. The room was large airy and bright and there is not much traffic noise. The bathroom is good with plenty of hot/cold water.
The bar is nice and the food is good. The staff is excellent and Boyd is very helpful.
If you want more than the free continental breakfast you can order it or go down the street to the Clarion Hotel.
No chica fees for members and very close to HLH, NF and the SL. Few minute walk to HDR too.
Mixture of monger and eco-tourists.

And not the usual stuffy middle-age eco-tourists either--I had a fascinating convo or two with a younger Canadian couple, the woman of which seemingly not fazed when a lustrous younger woman came ambling out of my room and planted a kiss on my cheek. Life is life and so it goes with Canadians.

I am looking into possibly staying at the Dunn Inn for 5 nights in mid September ... does anyone know the status on the construction or impending casino/black jack room and or Chica's? (Is the casino still open at the Clarion?) And also the pricing on a more spacious room then standard? One preferrably with hot water and a good internet connection :D

I stayed there previously in one of the standard rooms ... and save for an issue at checkout ... feel it is worth atleast looking into again .... on this trip I am balancing between here and La Amistad or HLH.

Thanks for any insight

I just came back after a stay at the Dunn Inn. The $60 room on the second floor was a corner room with plenty of light, big with a king size bed and plenty of hot water. I did not check the internet connection but I think it was there. Room # 4.
The Casino/chicas are not in place yet.
The Clarion cafe was open but I do not know about their casino. Not much construction about the Dunn Inn that disturbed me.
I have stayed at Amistad too and in the $60 range I think the Dunn Inn rooms are better.
I would not consider HLH at all what with all their new management and lots of reports of changes that may not be favorable. There policies change day to day. I got ripped off $5 on the one hour session there. It is $45 for CRT members and they charged me $50. I strongly advice you to keep away from staying there.

Anybody that has any issues at the Dunn Inn needs to get Brother BKTuna (Boyd) involved immediately, if for nothing else than to explain softly and intelligently what the issues truly are and how they can be resolved.
Latest word is a late-September/early-October opening for the Gulch's premier venue--with Boyd it's either right and polished, or it ain't existing. Yes, he's my friend and the Gulch is blessed to have him and his talents.

Our construction is scheduled to be over sometime in October. It is adjacent to the building and now that we are in the finishing stages much quieter. All room have good hot water and have been refurnished wiht nice beds, and flatscreens. The primary difference between a standard and a deluxe is size. The rooms are comparitively very nice compared to other hotels in this price range.

Thanks for all your insight...

What is the difference between the deluxe and superior room? Is the superior room like a mini suite? does it provide much more room then a deluxe where you could possibly have a place outside of the bed to relax and watch TV?

Thanks

The only superior room worth the extra is Lari which has the side sitting room with a futon and a second flat screen. Most guys find the Deluxe to be the best value.

p.s. do not tell the owners I am downselling

Thank You for the tip BK ... if it has the sitting area and 2nd TV it will be worth it ... otherwise your right .... the deluxe will work just fine for the price. Our secret

I just spent a week in mid July at the Dunn Inn in room 3. I would highly recomend it.
Staff is very friendly, rooms are very nice for the price, and Boyd is very helpful if you have any questions.
I can't wait for "Goodfellas" to open. I'll be back.
