Lennydo, as Chilimike suggests, do a search for "airport parking orlando" and you'll find quite a few options. The one I'm partial to is FastPark & Relax (http://www.fastparkandrelax.com) because they have all covered parking. Their cost is about $6.40/day icluding taxes. Add 16.5% to all advertised rates (10% airport fee and 6.5% sales tax).

Continental has been very consistent with 500 USD out of IAH, (Houston), I feel this is high, every now and again, on a trip alert, it's 200 USD, but that's if you leave on a saturday and return on tuesday. You guy's on the east coast seem to get some good deals.

Chilimike, Buzzfla...I haven't flown out of Orlando in about eight years. I used to fly MartinAir out of MCO. In fact, I was on their first flight to CR. As I recall, I parked in the 'Gold' Lot(?), and took a shuttle bus to the airport, only about half a mile away. I think it was about $6.00 per day. Is that still the best parking option?

As I travel back and forth to the Midwest 7-8 times a year, I've had to find the lowest possible fares.

I live near Indianapolis but the fares have gone to 600-700 dollars. So I fly out of Chicago. My highest fare is Delta $240 ORD. I booked sale flights on Southwest for $100 RT...It's $25.00 Shuttle, so $50.00. That's a total of $390. If I want to go cheaper, I take the train from Indy for $38.00RT and shuttle to ORD for $40.00 RT.

If I want to get real cheap, I hike .3 miles to the CTA and reduce my $40 to $5.00.

To chart the fares, I use Kayak and get daily alerts. The cheapest flights this time came 2 months before flight time, during a sale. In the past, it usually was a month beforehand. Since all Chicago flights connect, I've checked my flight dates from the connecting terminal to SJO and the segment is usually $200-$300 more than my Chicago departure. Go figure. I think the pricing is done the way derivatives were done in the 90's, by PhD matematicians.

I also get emails from www.smartertravel.com, which alerts me to fare sales. That's when I check.

So far, only once have I not booked the cheapest online fare. I missed by $10.00.

what has happened is that airline are trying to make a profit instead of having bragging rights about how many flights/size of plans and other stuff. The accountants have taken over with very sharp pencils. so planes are full and they charge for every thing they can. And planes don't fly unless they make money. so higher prices

The CEO of Continental said he will not take any pay until they were in the black and since then I have seen very little change in there fares no matter when or where you book for out of MSP.

The industry has gone though some cycles, we went for people who knew how to move people( pre 80's), to wheeler and dealers (80's to 90's), then to Marketing Guru's( 90"to the bust), and now the accountants are in charge, they know nothing of flying, people or marketing, just how to cut cost and make money. But face it, if they do not make money they will not stay in business and if not in business we all stay home, and for muself I rather pay the extra bucks and get there then stay home.

Most of us got used to the cheap flights of the Marketing genius and now we are being punished with the profits of the accountants ( in our minds). But all in all I loved the cheap flights, so I look and look to cut a corner, and thanks for the new link I check it out once I am back frfom the hospital

How does Continental make money when the cost out of Chicago or Washington DC is half the price of a flight from Houston?

Dam if I know, thats always been baffling to me, maybe Vodoo Economics? Even Srilim explanation about why this is happens ( and he right), it still makes no comman sense what so ever longer flight more take off/landings and cheaper then short and direct flights.

my first post was a after a long converastion I had with anther member of this board who has been a paid pilot since 18 years old and is now a senior captin with major alines flying long distance over seas routes with a insiders point of view, that has seen all the changes.\

But now flights make money or no go, and every little thing is now a extra and I highly doubt it will ever change for a long time, and we have to get used to higher prices and searching harder for smaller bargins

The six biggest airlines earned $1.3 billion in the second quarter so will that finally mean lower fares? No... :? http://www.ajc.com/business/airlines-po ... 78859.html

Paco Loco I typed a good answer with examples , but computer logged me out here at the hospital and now I off to see the doc about cutting part off my foot, with luck they get it back on, but for short

'figures neve lie,, but liers can figure" I do not believe the proffits numbers untill they can repeat the numbers year in and year out...

and they figured out we pay the higher prices ( for very thing), so why cut?

last week American tried to charge me 10 bucks to board with a earler group, cutting in line did the same thing, but I am sure some idiot paid the 10 bucks

Why would you pay $10 to board earlier when you have an assigned seat anyway? for closer overhead bin space?

US airways have added more nonstops out of PHX recently, but still in the $570 -590 range. I think the $400 days are over..

Why would ANYBODY pay to board earlier unless it's general admission and the plane is leaving once full? :?
