Check it out -- if you were on the fence about buying one, the E-reader wars are heating up and prices are dropping:

Quote:
Just weeks after lowering the price of the Kindle e-book reader from $259 to $189, Amazon unveiled a fully revamped Kindle on Wednesday. It's sleeker, better looking, easier on the eyes — and starts at $139.

Available on 8/27.

$139 for a Kindle wifi w/o tax (to CA) is such an attractive price... I'd be all over it if only it would natively support east asian languages without resorting to hacks.

Do any of you living in CR own a Kindle?
I'd like to know its capabilities and limitations here. It appears that you cannot do wireless downloads to it in CR. http://client0.cellmaps.com/viewer.html?cov=1&view=intl
I also don't see any mention on the Amazon site of a USB port allowing you to download books via your computer and then import them to the device. Is this correct?
For someone living in CR, is it at all useful?

You can transfer files to the Kindle via its USB port (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/ ... 05520&#usb) and also via email (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/ ... 520&#email).

I have no idea whether Amazon's wifi or 3g setup works in CR.

Thanks MH,
That's good news According to Amazon their wifi system doesn't work here. Looks like I won't have to buy new book shelves. :D
