I selected eating venues differently when I had a company credit card and there was an expectation for me to take people to the best places. Now I join with you JAZZBOCR --- "I've got dreams to remember...". and a much larger wasteline.

Just remember Ticos get like 50% off there for using their credit card. You can bet that every Tico there is paying half what you are. Even worse than the 2 tiered pricing of New Fantasy.

I hear what CVCap is saying but Fogo to me is an occasion restaurant--I give a rabid rabbit's rectum what anybody else is paying IF I get the quality of food and experience I'm paying for. NF is a whole 'nother thing because it more directly affects on a weekly basis the CRT Brothers resident in CR. BUT if I go to Fogo (or is it Fugu?--the Japanese puffer fish that can be deadly) again (a big IF), I'll make sure I go with a Tica, have her pay on a CC, then give her 10% more in cash--I'll be straight to the gate and I'll be the one chortling. Thanks for the tip.

Neither entirely accurate or fair to the restaurant.

The discount offered by credit card issuers in Costa Rica are not exclusive to Fogo Brazil. They are offered in various restaurant and vary from 30 to 50%. Additionally like most promotions they are for a limited time period. The discount is not limited to Ticos but rather to holders of a particular credit card. Many foreign residents have and use Costa Rica credit cards so they qualify for the promotion.

Wasn't La Amistad going to open a sushi parlor on the 2nd floor? what happened to that? In any case, add "having a sushi bar" to the list of enhancements to Gulch life we'd like to see.

:| :| speak for your self, I would much rather a tanning bed than a sushi bar :| :| No problem if "you" would like a sushi bar, but saying "we" conotates something entirely differant :| :| thanks for "your" opinions :D

Does anyone know where to get good sashimi in San Jose, not too far from the SL? I am looking for quality here, not to save a buck. Eating raw fish is enough of a risk without looking to bargain-hunt or cut corners.

Try the sushi restaurant at the Crowne Plaza Coribici (Sabana Norte). It's apprx 1800-2500 colones from the Gulch. Depending on traffic and routing they take. Apprx 10-15mins from SL.

It's quality sushi and sashimi. 2 of us shared a Sushi and Sashimi Barco (Boat) and 4 drinks or so. The bill was like $50US.
I would and will go back there again.
My Chica really enjoyed it!
They also have the teppanyaki tables like Benihana.
