Was in the US for awhile so missed this article in the Tico Times until just now. If someone has posted previously also missed that but think it important enough to post again.
There was a tread awhile back about the obligation of parenthood if you got a chica pregnant. There was some question as to the enforcement of an order by a CR court if you were in the US. BEWARE:

"Country Joins U.S. Against Deadbeat Parents
Reinforcing the rights of separated parents and their Ch*ldren, Costa Rica and the the United States signed a bilateral agreement this week that allows one parent to collect child-support payments from the other, absentee parent, even if that person moves from the United States to Costa Rica or vice versa.
It's the first time the United States has signed such an agreement with a Latin American country, and the first time Costa Rica has signed such an agreement officials said.......... "
