BTW ..BKs post is right on

:| :| why leave it to memory :?: :?: why doesn't somebody bump it

Not sure it was ever posted other then in passing comment in other threads.

Oh, dam does mean I answered a post by a 1/3rd? Mea culpa
If it was posted at the time it occurred then it had to have been on the old CRS board not here because the event in question occurred way back in the summer of 2003. Unfortunately, as far as I know that forum was never archived and the posts on it have been lost to history. ID is correct that the only references to it on this board are brief comments in passing. ID got the gist of it correct, that Easy was really arrested for coming to the defense of his chica "M" rather than any immigration charge, though that might have been the official excuse. I believe he was kept in the pokey over night and later became a plaintiff along with the HDR in a lawsuit against the CR government over the events of that night. I don't know for certain how that turned out or whether it is still languishing in the CR justice system, but I think we all can predict. Perhaps Easy will chime in here with the real and complete story, but the real significance of the story seems to me to be more the fact that we're talking about a case that goes way back 7 years ago and that no one can think of any other cases where any gringo has gotten arrested in any of the raids that have occurred since then. Short of perhaps being foolish enough to get in an argument with one of the policia, being caught with having some illegal drugs on your person or providing them with some other valid excuse, I don't think any of us are really likely to be arrested in one of these raids or at least not for anything as minor as only having a photocopy of your passport.

Great Story!

The raid last night was easy. There were several gringos that only had an american driver's license. They still didn't have any problems with the cops. There was one really drunk asshole from Canada who apparently is a native Cubano. He was very antagonistic towards the cops, continually getting up to go confront them about the raid. They just ignored him.

Thanks for reporting Easy. I may be thinking of a different member (or story) but being back in the days of CR practical jokes amongst members (those were the days, I once flew down unannounced to pull one on Latinoheat)- was not your one phone call from jail to an amigo in the early morning hrs. ignored because he thought you were BS'ing him?

Easy...I remember your experience well, as posted on the CRS board. Whatever happened to Rico?

Rico is alive and well. Some of his ventures are Inside Costa Rica, Adventi Limousine Service, a cell phone rental service and I would guess others.

I hope LVSteve is doing OK. I think he moved back to Las Vegas after living in CR for about five years(?). I think he lived in Tibas. He apparently used to work in a hospital here in the States. I never had the pleasure of meeting him. He used to love playing the Cherry Masters, as did my favorita at the time (2002 or so). He claimed he had a system, and would win on a regular basis :) At the time, the Morazan and the DR had quite a few Cherry Masters, and the Colonial had about a dozen of them!
I guess I wasn't aware that Rico was involved with InsideCostaRica. I'll have to check out the site. Sounds like he's quite busy these days.

LVSteve is doing fine now; last year he had a serious fight with cancer however great news is that it is in remission; he is a remarkable fellow.

I remember attending the very first CRT party which was held at Zona Blue. There was probably 20 members there tops and LVSteve and Tawarag were 2 guys that were the life of the party. Those were the good ol days. :)
