   In light of the sudden increase of police raids in the Gluch recently, i.e Relax, Del Rey, Idem etc, would it be wrong for me to ask the San Jose policia for their badge #'s if I get caught up in a raid? Just asking as a concern newbie (2nd trip in September) hell I'm an American I got f**king rights !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsdZKCh6 ... re=related

Why would you want their badge number? As has been stated in the posts about the raids you mention show your copy of your passport ID page and entry stamp and that is the end of interaction with the police.

Loose the attitude! Your are in Costa Rica not in the U.S. You are a guest here.

JDove,
Just make the copies of your passport and entry stamp, and go with the flow. If you enter a crosswalk tonite in the USA and get smacked, call it Karma, similar odds. I don't think you will have any problemas if you show respect and behave accordingly. Raids occur often and if your nervous, don't worry, be happy. I went thru one and I wasn't even given a second glance, nor was I asked for any "papers". Don't be the loud obnoxious gringo with attitude. Oh yeah, leave the Ed Hardy, Affliction T-shirts @ home, we do have rights in foreign countries,
but it seems they are left behind after the infraction, i.e. ugly american, asshole, ad nauseum. Have fun and respect the country, customs and people you are dealing with.
Regards,911 Driver

Its not easy being green ( a newbie ) in the CRT world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpiIWMWWVco

Its not easy being a newbie
people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
Or stars in the sky

A newbie can be cool and friendly-like
And a newbie can be big like an ocean, or important like Cujo, Pops, Miamiheller, or Fiddy

When a newbie is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why Wonder,
I am a newbie and it'll do fine. But dam !! I really want to be a flashy sparkle in the water !!!

Jdove,
Got your PM, not saying you were any part of the ugly americans. I was just answering your post, granted it was in the smack talk section, if I offended you, I apologize.
Oh Yeah, If I run into you in Sept, watch out!!! I will buy the first drink 8) 8) 8)

Irish Drifter-

Much respect for your public acknowledgement to my PM. Your point about the use of emoticons, noted and applied. No offense taken. in retrospect, I should have given the appropriate disclaimers of my humorous intent in my initial posting.

Ooh yeah if you and me meet on them' Costa Rican streets it'll go down like this  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=resUyjKmOj0&feature=fvw

peace

jdove

always see everything my CRT brothers
