i'm going to costa rica in 21 days and i have no idea what hotel i should stay at... im not a CRT VIP member and not sure if becoming one is going to benefit me greatly as im only staying 4 nights. i'm going with a friend who recently came back from CR and a girl who lives there.

she recommended hotel royal dutch, i tried calling but its very hard to get in touch with them and i dont know if they charge a chica fee.

i'm not new to the monger world in miami but will be in CR and i am just simply amazed at the prices LOL.

can someone please tell me whats a good hotel to stay at for just 4 nights, close to the action and doesnt charge chica fees.

thanks!

royal dutch is a fun hotel....should be around 46 to 50 a night ...you should be able to walk right in and get a room......I have stay there many times ...safe to walk during the day ...take a cab every time at night ....has a nightclub for locals that is packed on weekend nights and thursday.....you are very close to the MP's (cheap ones on 6th street) but about a 10 min, walk to the DR during the day,,,,nice walk , food sucks there but you are close to many restaurants and fast food joints (american)no chica fees ....you will be one of the few (of our types) in the place but they are cool they know the game ....let me know if you need anymore info ...

all the action is at the del rey hotel...prices are from $90 per night plus $10 chica fee

definately worth staying here at the del rey...stop wasting your time at other cheap hotels...you might save couple of dollars staying else where...but you are going to end up at del rey...so just stay there and enjoy yourself...you only live once...have fun!

Well Xb
You have a bridge to cross?
Trust Chile Mike and walk in when you arrive, augusto is a slower time
You said you will be traveling with a girl that lives in Costa Rica, have her call a friend and go to the hotel to make a reservation
Or book a hotel that answers the phone... many do
The Royal Dutch sounds fun with the night club and all ... Is this the place with a pool that never gets used :?:

The Royal Dutch is a Tico place, that's why your friend's girl mentioned it, and as Chilimike said, don't bother with trying to make a reservation there, it isn't like a US-style hotel. Great if you want something REALLY different, but not for a newbie.

You could just stay at the Hotel Del Rey for your first time, it's the training-wheels hotel (with a $10 chica fee), but since you're not new to mongering, I strongly suggest becoming a CRT VIP and take advantage of the CRT discounts offered at the Sportsmens Lodge, Hotel La Amistad, Dunn Inn and Hotel Castillo, all of which are sponsors and much better places, with no chica fees. The $39 cost will more than pay for itself even for a 4-day trip.

Not pimpin' membership and have no idea of you life's experiences--but you only think you're coming to CR once. It's like meth to mongers--one trip and you're well and truly hooked. Do consider paid membership--you can get it onsite through Brother BKTuna at the Dunn Inn--we don't just have hotel discounts but also good restaurants, the Monger Map, access to paid-only Forums, etc. etc. Your call, of course.
