Here's another one we overlooked--more a country-soul than urban-soul voice--Del Shannon; check this version of "I Go to Pieces", which he wrote:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d24GoE1gGvI

In other news Donald Fagen AND Michael McDonald AND Boz Scaggs are teaming to tour starting next month as The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue. 22 dates coast-to-coast border-to border. Story and list of dates here:
http://radiodupree.blogspot.com/2010/06 ... -tour.html
If you are a true fan of Blue-Eyed Soul, you do NOT want to miss this one. I'll most def' look for a DVD of this one in a year.

Not that he's thought of this way but Mark Farner sure knows his way around a soul tune, as this co-lead-singing clip demonstrates:

and soul? this to me is the music that stands above anything being made. thom yorke is the beethoven of our time. the album in rainbows went largely unnoticed but it is remarkable in its depth and simplicity. imho

this is a masterpiece. everybody leaves if they have the chance. i'll be eaten by the worms and weird fishes

Yes, Mr. Greene is for real with tremendous headroom (room for growth). Sure appreciate the mention--DVDs been ordered.
Now about Radiohead--It's all my bad, but I just don't get them and their playing of their material. I phrase it that way because I have enjoyed some jazz artists' interpretations of Radiohead material.
Here's another artist, this one with an excellent bloodline (his dad Ted is in the La. Music Hall of Fame). Check this acoustic take on an Al Kooper classic by Marc Broussard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZVvvaj5ONg

May I humbly present another guy not usually thought of in this category? This clip should convince about Mr. Vince Gill:

i think in rainbows is a masterpiece. but most would cite either ok computer or the bends. his voice is crazy to so in order to understand him better i recommend reading lyrics while listening for impact. you will know you get it when your eyes roll back in your head. oh and did i leave out the joint?

It's pretty surprising that this thread has gone on for six pages and these guys haven't been included. They were definitely the first group to be labeled blue eyed soul:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-idDbIfGvw

Here's a guy who was primarily a songwriter, but had a whole lot of soul:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd4uilLYt1U
Here he is performing one of his best songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJoi2QpbiF4&feature=related
And here's the coolest version of the same song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPbhMHVNnnI

And a soulful song by a British socialist folk guitar wizard:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HApy-Xoix-g&feature=related
who's also a big Britney Spears fan:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAS4ltt7DzI&feature=related
and made some pretty soulful music with his ex:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqViJyweNV0&feature=related

And another political band from England who can show their soulful side now and then:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42WnZxLYWrM&feature=related

And, just for the hell of it, another bit of cross cultural hijinks from some Balkan funk'n'rollers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elyQ4ShVw-Y
plus some blue-eyed-soul from thirty years before soul music:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZnwIMw8emc&feature=related

You, Sir, do a severe disservice to Brothers Express321, La Diablo and the others who've contributed mightily to something that obviously inflames our passion. Your sandbox is over there; this Thread is for adults.
