I have searched archives and don't find anything on corrective eye surgury.....I'm really interested in this. Any help would be greatly appreciated and earn a round at the bar. Any bar... :) :)

Check this out http://www.eyesurgeries.com/. I intended to get surgery but I was not a good candidate, my sister got and some other friends too. Very good service, check out their homepage.

Another good one I have heard is http://www.oftalmologia.co.cr/index.htm. Again check their home page.

another one is Clínica Visualiza, http://www.clinicavisualiza.com/ Dr. Zlatko Piskulich

Hope this helps

Mente

Are you looking for info about the procedure or about getting it done in SJO?

If you are thinking about getting Lasik or some other eye surgery and don't know about the risks I suggest that you start with a few of these sites:

http://www.medic8.com/laser-eye-surgery ... ations.htm
http://www.healthcentre.org.uk/laser-ey ... rgery.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LASIK
http://www.youreyeguide.co.uk/lasereyes ... risks.html
http://www.lasikcomplications.com/
http://lifeafterlasik.com/

Quotes like "Symptoms such as glare and starbursts are also fairly common." do not inspire confidence in this at all. I thought about getting it done myself a long time ago but the claimed success rate seemed to be misleading when you brush over the sever complications that often occur, it seems that it's not gotten any better in recent years.

Gather all of the information you can, find out if you are really a candidate for it, and if you are, do it. The best thing I have ever done, even better than than my vasectomy, which has saved me many Ch*ld support payments.

Had the surgery last year at the Mann Eye Institute in Houston.
Cost $4,500 for both eyes and it is worth every penny.
I'm not sure if I would trust San Jose Doctors with my eyes.

I would trust CR doctors with every organ in my body--as long as I had done the requisite research. CR doctors who are US board-certified AND have done a bunch of procedures (practice does make better, if not perfect). Take my orthopedist: Dr. Oeddings at Clinica Biblica is thus certified and has done or led a team doing 2500 procedures including total hip. And he "sold" me away from a surgical procedure in favor of using vitamins and mineral supplements to rebuild myself (this from a surgeon). A world-class doctor spending an hour on a schlub like me with minor problems--for $60--gonna get that anywhere else in this hemisphere? If you have doubts about eye surgeons in CR, PM Brother BangBang57 about his experience.
And never to forget, in CR they put the "care" in healthcare. They have successfully targeted medical/dental tourism as a clean, growing industry. A PM to Brother WordWiz might be in order as well--facilitator supreme.
One caveat--If things do go South on you, the less-litigious legal system in CR provide fewer remedies.
IN SUM--Ain't no bush doctors here, rest assured. World-class doctors/dentists in world-class facilities using world-class machines and materials. Free bonus--Wait a couple of years and you might draw La Mansion's Janette as your nurse. Oh heavenly night! Oh garden of delight!

I would suggest you have the surg. in the states. The latest and best laser centers are using 4th generations lasers which are very expensive. No way can they do the procedure on the cheap. Also, the best centers use a special laser just to cut the flap, thus requiring the added expense of 2 lasers. Another thing, don't forget about father time. You will need glasses to read with when you get into your 40s. Good luck

That's exactly what I've heard also. Once they make a map of your eye and plug it into the second laser it doesn't make mistakes. of course the power could go out I suppose. I had laser surgery done about 7 years ago and would do it again in a second.
