I don't remember having seen one but don't think you'd need one for the Trannys on the corner you'll doubtless find amusing

One of my favorite gulch lunches is the pollo plata del dia at Esportsmans Lodge, I've eaten it 3-4 days in a row it's so good :)

Can't beat the price, c2500. Also comes in pork or beef instead of pollo!

Had it last week myself.

First of all, welcome aboard Brother ZanJay--hope your SEO service is doing well. Second, my language was ambiguous but you can find the Trannys "amusing" by standing cater-corner and watching their antics, A bit thin-skinned, are we?

Do not know the name of it but up about a block from the Morazan across the street going towards the airport is an old restaurant that displays a lot of old soccer pictures. Good food worth the money.
I believe life is full of hope and happy moments as we are living already in a stressful environment ; we don't need to be an additional problem -emiting negative energy into the air. Instead we should be generating positive energy into the atmosphere.

This is a place dicovered by Scubabum that has gotten great reviews from other CRT guys. Not exactly downtown but close enough to be doable.

brother ID--Thanks for the re-mention. I'm sometimes in that neighborhood and walking home hungry from, er, exertions.

Go to any restaurant or soda and order the Casada. It should be no more that 5 bucks and contain a meat, rice, salad, fried banana!! :D :D :D

During my June trip, I had the salad bar at the Del Mar several times. Really nice when you have a craving for some fresh vegetables. It's one large plate-one time. Quite an assortment of fresh vegetables, plus a few pre-made salads [macaroni, potato, etc.] and bread and butter. A good value at only $6.50. The Del Mar is a beautiful, renovated restaurant building......I was usually the only person in the place at lunchtime. Service is excellent.

I agree. At lunch time probably every restaurant in SJ has a plato del dia, casado or ejecutivo lunch for around c2,500. The local hole-in-yhe-wall sodas are probably your best bet for bargains but all of the restaurants are vying for the same colones from the lunch time crowd so a good deal is not hard to find.

Now, if were only the same at dinner time... :?

So the question is, When is the change-over hour between Al Muerza and Cena at most places? When's the latest you can expect the lunch menus?--especially important to us less-than-hearty eaters.

Ate Plato del dia at Vasconias today. 1650 or $3.33 for a nice piece of friend fish, good helping of rice and beans, ensalada y platanos. Plus they have a good selection of Mexican hot sauce.

It has become one of my favorite Tico places to eat.
