I'm planning to stay at La Amistad for a week and am deciding between 201, 202, and 312. Does anyone have any recommendation between the 2 type of rooms?

Is the hike up the 3 floors really that bad in 312 and is the train an issue if all the windows are closed? Pictures and maybe a better description would be great. I already read Matt post last year, but something more recent would be helpful.

Can't wait to get there

312 is definitely a hike if esp if you are not in shape or shitfaced.
theres a little landing half way for a quicky though. :)

Haha, quickie in the corner i guess. I'm in shape and handle well when shitfaced or what I call time travel. But worth the hike or should I stay with the 201 and 202 rooms.

If you had to choose?

the 200s are newer and have jacuzzis. but i believe one is much smaller but i can't remember which one. the smaller room is an interior room with no windows except for a small sort of ventilation window. nice room but not exactly a penthouse.
personally i love the balcony of 312 and the sunsets plus a lot of history w that room.
last time i was in it the bed was over by the sliding window and the rest of the room was kind of disjointed but then again it never did really work because amistad was a big house divided into spaces so you end up with some unusual spots.
311 is my all time though. full kitchen if you can get a tica to cook for you.

203 is the small one with only an interior window facing the inside stairwell. You want to keep the curtains closed. ;)

It also had a very annoying buzzing issue with the AC the last time I stayed there (Dec). Hopefully Matt has fixed it by now.

312 is great. It has the balcony as described plus jacuzzi, dry sauna, bar, plasma TV and full size dining table. You can order dinner from the bar restaurant for you and your date and have it delivered. Great view from the balcony. Train noise is seldom but I always bring ear plugs and its never a problem.

Esteban,

I think you got me sold. Going to aim for 312 on my week stay there. I guess I'll just have to deal with the stairs to my room.

You're gonna love it. You'll be breathing a lot harder inside the room

one thing, if you are a big jacuzzi guy then you might want to know that the newer rooms have MUCH better jacuzzis. that is unless the changed the one in 312. actually there were two jacuzzis in that room and they removed one.
anyway you go you can't go wrong really and the staff is always happy to show you the other rooms. have fun.

I always get 201 and 202 confused. Is 201 the one on the "train" side, or is it 202?

Room 203 the small interior room, does not have a jacuzzi but it does have a huge shower and if my memory serves me
right, it had no end tables, which made it difficult, with no where to set your drink, condoms and chica lotion

203 has one end table with 3 drawers next to the bed, as well as a small pedestal style drink table between the 2 armchairs. What it doesn't have is a larger table or desk to set your laptop.

Also, no outside window.

Thanks guys for all the feedback, but I just moved my room from 201 to 312 for my stay in CR. I guess I'm going to have to manage the climb up the stairs, but I do like the dinner room table, the plasma TV, and the balcony. Not that I'll be in my room that much, but I like the space and options.

Until then, hopefully some of you will be there the same time as me and I'll get the first round.

Just got back and stayed in 307. The hike up the stairs is not bad at all, enjoy your time as it will go way too fast! Also, never once noticed the train noise.
