My first trip to CR last November with my old AF boss as my wingman, was, to say the least a hit & miss experience. In retrospect, we were fortunate in not getting robbed, lost or ripped off. I guess being all over the world together in the AF including the Philippines, Korea and Japan helped with the street smarts. Plus finding the Pirates Club on the internet gave us a starting point. We enjoyed the PC (even used the coupon!) without even knowing about "ground zero" or "gringo gulch".

But I was forced to plan my second trip solo, due the the fact that my "Captain" wingman got busted by his better half stumbling across his passport. (He is still in mourning)
I came across CRT, joined, and put out a request for a wingman, which "Pops" dutifully answered and offered his assistance. After receiving my CRT card and reading the forums, I knew I hit the jackpot! You guys all stood behind Pops as infantrymen stand behind their "LT". Pops PMed me and I asked him if he would be available the 26th of May when I arrived. And we thought we knew what we were doing the first trip!

The first day, I got picked up by Smile 90210 for dental work. Then Pops met me at the Freebird that afternoon and we hit the streets hard and fast! Not having slept for over 36 hrs, I still was like a K*D in a candy store! Pop stayed with me for most of the 4 days and I couldn't have been happier! I truly felt safe wherever we went. On buses through the mountains, to MPs in areas I would have never found, to museums, restaurants and even dancing at the Del Mar. He always had my back.

Hell, if I was still in the service, I'd put him in for a CRTST......CRT Silver Star!
