I am trying to keep my meal cost down and am looking for a decent place to eat lunch relatively cheaply. No fast food.

Thoughts and votes?

I wouldn't rank it as one of the "best" places, but the Hotel Morazon has a lunch buffet from 11:30am to 2pm for 2500 colones. It's on the second floor. The food is okay, plus it's very convenient if you're walking around downtown.

Soda Peru, across the street from HLH, go 1 block up the hill. Lunch is good, go before 12 noon gets crowded. Then back down the hill to HLH and check out the desert menu. :D

I ate there one time during my last trip. A plate of chicken fried rice and a bottle of water was over $6. That was one of the cheaper items on the menu. That's just my experience, others have recommended it. The dessert menu sounds like a better idea. :)

I agree with you John. I've eaten there a few times, and know it comes recommended, but I've found numerous other places that serve as good, or better food, for a lot cheaper. I think they have a great location though, its nice to pit stop in there before or after a HLH session.

The lunch special at Hotel La Amistad cannot be beaten. I believe it runs from 11am---2pm, but I may be off a bit. It's worth the 500C cab ride from downtown to La Amistad to take advantage of the lunch special. http://www.hotelamistad.com/index.php?o ... icle&id=16 is a web link to the lunch specials menu. $3500C for a very large and pleasant meal, really.
