Can anyone give an update on the Amistad train whistle situation? Does it still start at 5 AM or thereabouts?
Thanks.

I thought Brother Mkink had solved that issue by hiring a flagman. Try a PM to him for current results. Quite the heads-up to TLN's if not resolved (yeah, pun intended).

I've stayed at La Amistad twice. I heard a train go by once during the day. I have NEVER been awoken by a train in the middle of the night or early morning. Granted, I'm a sound sleeper, but I'm not passed out drunk. It's not been an issue at all for me.

I stayed at the La Amistad last February for 4 nights and never heard the Train and I am a light sleeper. I will be there again July 1st for 5 nights and if it is a problem I will post to let everyone know.

I was in 212 last week & was never woken up by the train. Heard it once or twice throughout the day, but really didn't notice it much.

I always get a room on the other side of the tracks.

Ques: Is (Studio) room 212 on the "other side of the tracks"? I got it for 5 nights next month.

yes but I've stayed there and barely noticed the train... There's one room between it and the street. That studio is one of my favorite rooms at HLA.

One thing tho... It's pretty dark. I kept the lights on all the time.

Ok, great, so it is not on the train side anyways so that should be fine.
Why is it so dark? No windows?
Is there a balcany?

Just checked out of 106 over the weekend. Heard the train at about 8 am & 5 pm, neither is a problem for me.

Windows only to the hotel aisle, no balcony.
