I was bored during the day. I missed laying by the pool.

I think what would constitute the ideal length of time depends on the individual. If you're more of a pure monger and are there just to eat, sleep and Phuck (and not necessarily in that order) with any other free time spent just relaxing and recharging for your next session and/or you never leave SJ (or even the Gulch) then 4-5 days might even seem too long. OTOH, if you're a whoreticulturist and are really interested in seeing the whole country and experiencing various aspects of it whether that's the student bars of Amargura or the cloud forests of Monteverde then even a full week is probably not enough. I would say this if that other stuff does not mean so much to you and you are happy to monger non-stop for a week or more then there are probably other destinations that would suit you better.

I've offerrred this osrry excuse for poetry before but it sums up my philospohy:
If your days are 2-7, CR can be just your heaven,
or if you have 7-14, RIO could be more your scene,
but if you've 14 or more, go to BKK for more than whores.

I try to stay a minimum of 7 nights; airfare from Minnesota would be too expensive otherwise. Fortunately, I neither drink nor gamble much while in C.R., so my money tends to go farther.

Paco,

Well, I don't drink much. Unless of course one considers approximately 12 ounces of rum in a 24 hour period, plus five or six beers as "much."
 Then of course there's the famous Don Gordo recipe jello shooters, and the odd guaro to round things out. Oh yeah, and the once-in-awhile double premium tequila at Kamur...hee hee.

P.R. - Great that you resurrected this topic! :)

I stayed last year (Late Aug. - early Sept., 2009) for 16 nights. The trip was oth too long and too costly. :(

If/when I return to C.R., I will probably stay between 7-10 nights. For me, it takes a couple days just to get my bearings, get into the swing, begin to relax. However, after a week I get pretty bored and tired of the whole thing.

For obvious reasons, I'm not really into sightseeing. So for me, it's all about sex, drinking, sex, music, and sex.
