I'm not really a newbie, this is about my 12th time coming to Costa Rica, just my first time asking a question. What is the average cost for a shuttle ride, not the bus from the airport to jaco? And where do I fetch the shuttle at. Normally I have rented a car, but with only on person traveling with me this time, I've chosen the shuttle route. I will be at the Copacabana from May 16th to 18th and the sportsman from 18th to 19th. Thanks.

According to The Costa Rica Shuttle Bus site (http://www.shuttlebus.co.cr) the cost from the airport in San Jose to Jaco is $27.55. The only departure times are 8:45am and 3:00pm.

That's correct. But the shuttle (Interbus) does not pickup at the airport, except for airport transfers to/from San Jose. To catch the Jaco shuttle, you would need to take a taxi from the airport to the Hampton Inn hotel right outside the airport. It's right next to the Fiesta Casino and Denny's (I think it's still there). It's a 2 minute ride. That's where you the shuttle stops.

FYI - unless I saw wrong, looks as if the old Hampton Inn is now a Holiday Inn Express.....drove by there just last Sunday.

Brother Captain Cohiba has it right (see link then scroll down) BUT they offer a 10% AAA discount (not sure if this is an inclusive price OR +taxes):
http://www.graylinecostarica.com/graylinetouristbus.php
The equivalent service from Interbus booked through ShuttlebusCR is $27.55 with no discernible discount.
Factors to consider: (1) when do you want to leave? and (2) when do you want to return? You may want to go with one provider and return by the other. Also don't forget to check each site's "Special Deals" page. A bit vexing and confusing but you may have to pay a bit of a time-price to get exactly what you want.
