I read somewhere on CRT that chicas were being allowed back into the Las Palmas Restaurant. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Wingman & I popped in a couple of times last week & saw a couple of working girls in the back bar.

I was there on the Sundays of April 18 th and 25 th. had thier BBQ both Sundays the 18th was fanstatic ( they did have trouble with the gas but got everything going ok, and had great grub)! How ever it was a little different on th 25 th. as I split with Joanna the bartender and took the sausage she had the rib, mine had to go back for more cooking she seemed to like hers.
All in All very nice setting and more times than not good as well.
Pura Vida!

I thought the barkeeps name Sunday PMs was named Veronica...but no matter, it's all good. Good news about the working girls as well.

Sunday BBQ was an enjoyable afternoon on my last trip. It is a nice setting and the food was good at a reasonable price. I had the chicken. Las Palmas is an okay restaurant but I think a bit pricey for what it is. On the plus side Las Palmas offers a full American breakfast for $4 and it's quite good. It's also a nice change of pace from the free breakfast the Castillo offers.

I hope the BBQ on Sundays is going on my next trip. I want that to be soon. :?

That reminds me, does Las Palmas still book that marimba band?

I've done the BBQ at Las Palmas. I would rate it as OK.

I consider the place to be pretty good for lunch. They cater to the local crowd so the lunch prices are pretty reasonable and service good.

For dinner I consider the prices a little high but I have always had good food and good service. For a light meal I will sit at the bar and order an appetizer or boca from the bar menu.

Breakfast is good too and reasonably priced. Or at least priced about the same as SL et al. If you get tired of gallo pinto & boiled eggs at Castillo it is an easy alternative.

I do miss the bacon burger that the Gardens served but I don't miss the scitzoid managment policies that would change depending on which owner was in town that week. Las Palmas has a gringo owner too but he seems to have a better head for the business.

I have seen a chica or two in the back bar on occasion. Also a few non-pro local girls who were out on the town too. I don't think that management has an absolute ban on working girls but they don't seem to want the place to revert to the way it was during the Gardens era.

Javier, the restaurant manager, is no longer there. He opened up a little Peruvian restaurant about 20 yards beyond the Hotel Don Carlos and opposite the INS building. This could lead to a change in the policy of chicas at the two bars.

In march there were what seemed to me local Tica girls hanging out at the "Rancho" bar, in the back of the restaurant. Nothing special, the allure was they did not seem like pro's. As I was with a Nica chica, I did not partake,...but I may next time. Darren, the manager of the Castillo, did indeed confirm that their policy had changed. Does anyone know if they have started the renovations on the new rooms where the pool room was? They had already sold the pool table in march.

I've heard from someone who works at Las Palmas that business is WAY down and that the employees are not being paid in a timely manner.

I sounds like we may be seeing ANOTHER change of hands at this place in the near future...

There was a chica that filled in for the Monday shift Sep 6th, a real knockout named Alejandra. I emailed her and she is now bar tending at Sportsman's Lodge. She just started last week. Guys, you need to go see her. The food was very good on Sunday night at the Bar B Que btw.
