In my opinion, the talent at the SL is superior to the DR. There's not as many, but better quality.

I think a newbie who is not a member who wants to bash the SL should stay away from there. Those of us who enjoy the atmosphere would rather not put up with some jerk.

Buddy.....you went AFTER everyone else; and everyone else was busy taking care of business! That includes the chicas as well as the chicos. Timing is everything.....and there are plenty of times when the Del Rey SUX talent wise.....the SL is a guarantee every day of the week provided you have half a brain. It's a far more "inviting" type of place; it's very live and let live and there aren't duffus like guys at the doors and walking around with the secret squirrel ear pieces pretending to be security. It's in a neighborhood where one is basically, pretty much safe because as IrishDrifter notes ain't nowhere safe in SJO at all times and there aren't a bunch of dildoes outside waiting to do God knows what.....

Fine by me if you stay over at the Del Rey.....keep up the good work! :P

Alot of people are lying on this message board about the sportsmen lodge. I am here at del rey right now and i went to go check out the sportsmen lodge after reading all the good stuff about it...when i got to the sportsmen lodge, there were only 3 ugly girls and about 10 men...really really dead...

on the other hand...the del rey is packed with so many beautiful girls...few ugly ones...but over 200 girls here...wow!

whatever people are saying about the SL is false...it sucks...go check it out for yourself...but you will be wasting your time!

i think people on here are just trying to advertise the sportsmen lodge...but it sucks...stop lying to people!

i gotta go now...chicas are calling me!

see ya!

The Sportsmans does suck compared to the Del Rey. Look at the great inexpensive rooms at the Rey, the $10 chica fees, the discount bar rates, the friendly non-agressive girls in the Blue Marlin, the quiet relaxed atmosphere. Who would want to stay anywhere else. Does anyone staying at the Rey ever go anywhere else and find girls. No!!! They don't need to. All the beautiful girls in San Jose work there. Off course some of us old folks who have been arround here a long time are complete idiots. We look for quality women where they are to be found. We look at other venues as a place where we can party the way we want. Its easy to like the girls at the Rey. They really know what they are doing. Problem is they are experts at phucking the customer, not the other way arround. I prefer to pay $100 for $100 worth of service. Del Rey girls give $20 worth of service for the Cien. Then again the average newbie wouldn't recognize world class performance. The low rent massage parlor girls give $50 worth of service and receive $10 to $25. I walk out of them feeling like I really got my money's worth. I really don't like mps. If I travel to San Jose to party, a few dollars extra to go to the room I am paying $100 plus per day for is worth it. I frown on dirty sheets, no a/c, suicide showers, 2" foam mattresses. The grils at the Rey can be treasures. Problem is that 9 out of 10 there who look great, perform at a level equal to a getto crack whore. They have more rules than the IRS and like the IRS they change the rules to fit their needs. If you want trophies, the Rey is full of them. You pay them to look good not perform. I was in the Rey just the other day at 8pm on a Friday and there wasn't 10 women in the place and they looked like rejects from the New York Bar. All depends on timing. I guess Good Friday isn't the best day to pick up women. Don't get me wrong. The Rey is a great place to people watch, work on your game and maybe find a girl. Staying there and hunting there is for newbies. With luck, they learn from their mistakes. Some do, others are hopeless. It didn't take the newbie who started this thread long to figure out what is really going on here in San Jose. He is to be commended for telling the truth to us unfortunate fools.

And to think, it costs $18.50 to go to the top of the Sears Tower and you don't even get a CBJ, no touch this no do that, mechanical, come on and leche in 10 minutes session with some of those honeys at the HDR.

Anut, thanks for the info. :P

You've got that right! Wasn't it Scubabum that had the gun pulled on him walking back that way?

But, but, but, but......I MODIFIED my safety remark. Nonetheless, I do believe the question: "Do I need to take a cab from La Amistad to Sportsmen's???" is pretty dang funny!!! It IS asked frequently at La Amistad..... :P

I might just have to cancel my 3rd trip to the Sportsmen next month...................NOT!! Some people like DR, some like SL, some like La Amistad, some like Dunn's and so on. To each his own. I love the SL!! I've never had any complaints and will continue to book my future trips to the SL. Keep up the good job Bill!!

I am shocked: someone said something bad about the sportsman's lodge and the sun did not fall from the sky. As anyone knows who has ever read anything I've put on this board I love the Hotel Del Ray I would live there if I could. But even with my very prejudiced opinions I understand that most of the very good and correct things that are said about the sportsman's lodge concern it as a hotel. Even those who will not admit it know in their heart that the DelRey is a much better pickup joint. Just as even I will admit although I will deny it the sportsman's is the friendlier place to stay.

I will continue to stay at the Hotel Nuevo Johnson but look forward on future visits to using the new public bathroom at the SL.
