Just booked a deluxe room in the modern wing on the second floor. Is this a good choice? Does it include a safe? Also does it have a private bath and possibly a Jacuzzi. Thanks for any input.

False, there is a jacuzzi in the room at the end of the hallway first floor in the mansion wing. I think it is called the Leon.

You should PM Anunt. He seems to be an expert on SL affairs.

I believe all rooms in the "Mansion" Wing have Jacuzzi tubs. I know that Leon (on the 1st floor) has a Jacuzzi tub (in the bathroom). Toro Negro (Mansion Wing 2nd Floor) has a Jacuzzi in the room and is probably one of the best rooms in the House.

He said he booked a room on the SECOND floor!

?? The response clearly said no unless you booked the Penthouse. That is not a true statement; there are several rooms other than the Penthouse that have a jacuzzi.

Not breakin' stones here but wouldn't a floor plan with details of all the rooms render these questions moot? Is this info available on the SL Website? And of course Brother True Sportsman is forthcoming about room details/ choices available on your choice dates (he's going to rent all his rooms anyway but he genuinely wants his guests to be happy with what they have). Not that opinions and details by users aren't appreciated...

The SL has alwasy dumbfounded me. For a hotel with such variances between the various rooms ( none are the same ), you would think they would explain the differences, or show pictures of each and every one.

Some seem to have some glowing advantages of weaknesses over the other ones. Why not as just mentioned make a map, with a few key features listed. Plus it will help out people who are trying to avoid certain areas of the hotel, or trying to room beside a buddy or two.

Im not sure if your talking to me directly, but Ill assume. For the love of God don't take any of this direct.

I have been there. It's not that its a deal breaker, but its the hotel and hospitality industry; you shouldn't have to do something along the lines of call and be run through each and every room and the differences.

Why add the extra burden on your staff when the majority of it can be prevented? Its simple. You make a link for rooms. Under that you will have a breakdown. Courtyard wing - AA, BB, CC; Mansion wing - DD, EE, FF. Under the various rooms, have a snap shot or two so that when you click on them you get a feel for the room and you can see what its all about. A grade 7 high student could do that..

Don't get me wrong I get what your saying. I just don't see why you would make it harder then it has to be. Just call? The whole point of a hotel website is to sell itself. Do you walk into a restaurant and the waiter says go talk to the chef. Just show up? What if they don't like the room they guessed on, give a totally mediocre review to all their buddies and none of them ever show? The SL is pretty heavily booked. I doubt your going to go wander through other peoples rooms while they are staying there, and if the hotel lets you even look in someones room while its occupied that's kind of phucked up.

I've looked through many a hotels in various countries. Few, and I mean very few with non generic rooms don't show pictures or give specifics.

Look at the Medellin Mansion for example. Perfectly explains, and shows the different room types. You don't have to call the front desk, get disconnected, and try to explain what you want; you just point and click.

Some good ideas to talk about with staff and web master...I will only invite staff that has at least a 7th grade education. Seriously I think we can do better on this without writing a book. I believe Aussie Greg has 8-10 rooms we have 30 but with Jmacaula`s quick-code idea its very doable.

Thanks,

Bill

The Medellin Mansion was just an example that the majority of people on this site are familiar with.

I will however agree with you Bill and Srilm that its not really practical to have a boutique style hotel and convey every single feature, amenity and possible dislike/like on a website. The general purpose behind my rant was to add some foundation to the website so you had a rough idea what you were getting into.

We have the pleasure of multiple reviews, a 24/7 brotherhood of members who can answer any minor detail question.

While the current format works, the idea is to have a continuous mindset that things can always be done to improve.

Regardless of whether changes take place. The SL is a great establishment, and it will always be first on my list of recommendations in San Jose
