Once again mis amigo's YMMV

I went down to get my Costa Rica drivers license this week including the blood test needed beforehand. Total time at the clinic for certificado: ~ 10 minutes

Total time in line to acquire driver's license incliding the time it took to walk to the bank and pay the 4,000 colone fee: ~ 35-40 minutes.

Note(1): I NEVER stood in the lines with the Ticos. I went to the front, spoke to the guard, he sent me upstairs straight to the processing desk.

Note(2): My experience getting a Drivers License in San Jose, CA was a hell of a ot longer and more stressful.

mis dos colones from another point-of-view....

Well EDB, what would you expect?

You're like the Mayor in CR, flash the million dollar smile and breeze right through those lines

Perhaps, BUT then you wouldn't be able to recall all of those quality times trying to explain to the taxi driver how to get back home.... 8)    :!:

Looks like reality has intruded after four years in CR. This is a good thread and guys who have the 'move to CR fantasy' should take heed. No place is perfect.

Just ran across your post, Chi. Sounds like more things 'Muy Tico'.
Costa Rica IS quite an adjustment.
I liken the Ticos to a bunch of ten year olds. They are incapable of planning ahead, lying is totally natural and acceptable and the are some of the worst drivers I have ever seen. On the planet.
Work ethic??? ¿Qué es eso?
The banks? HAHAHAHAHA! What makes you laugh, can also make you cry.
I like to say, we don't ever have to worry about the Ticos taking over the world.
But, I guess everything is a tradeoff.
The States sure ain't what they used to be, either.
