The tilde above the n on some words is important.

año = year
ano = asshole

The essential difference 'twixt Spanish and English is that Spanish slang is Spanish words/phrases used differently i.e. "huevos" means eggs but also testicles; whereas in English we have a word adopted from one language used differently in another language + the many homonyms and other kind of wordplay inherent in a polyglot language like English. It's our power and our glory but makes for a mighty confusing language to learn and use properly C.f. the mis-usages on this Board by presumably native English speakers. Also feel free to invent new words (Shakespeare came up with >400--Goethe in German maybe 5--both equally skilled playwrights/poets speaking to the human condition).

Thanks brother Nhhank. This helps mucho. BTW, how many anos do you have? See I am learning already. Thanks for increasing my vocabulary, Brother Orange. Just like the info on La Oficina, you have come thru again.

And for a sentimental moment. I think back to all the anos I have seen, and I must say, there is a special ano. It is this ano, when I met my buddy Nhhank. You're the best. May you have many anos in your life.

In need of a Spanish typing keyboard,
Dean

PS I am casting my vote to you buddy as "Man of the Ano" award"

I've gone through 2, no, make that 3 boxes of hankies, weeping at the thought of Brother Dean consoling his,er, "special buddy" Brother NHhank slogging through the complexities of typing Spanish and getting it so, so wrong. Maybe this post from (who else?) Brother Orange from the days of XP can help:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10510

A little Googling can bring all parties concerned into the 21st Century...then again maybe not.

Heart-rending...truly. Or unruly. Whatever.
You expected me to be touched ...and I am. Right down there.

So I should have said esta ano. Sorry, Nh, didn't mean to leave the "esta" out. Thanks, Jazz, I'm a quick learner.

I hope this helps you use CR Spanish: Go to Control Panel in Vista and keep looking 'til you find Spanish (Costa Rica). If you need more help I'll PM you to the exact steps. Or try such as Brother Orange (he was such a help the first time).
