Those of you who stay there, do you usually pre-pay at check-in?

I would think you wouldn't want to pre-pay, so if something goes back you can pick up and move.

I usually pre-pay at check-in. Only stay for about a week at a time, pay cash at arrival (get a better deal) and it's one less thing I have to worry about.

For me it was a no worries kinda deal. I paid when I wanted. I was coming in and out of town, Sometimes I would just show up they would give me a key and we worked the details out later. I was always satisfied with the prices. Just print your name on the voucher and your John Hancock. The staff is "VERY" accommodating to the point it makes it hard to wanna stay anywhere else. Just email darren at the hotel website with any special request, supper cool laid back guy.

I always pay at check in with cash to get the best rate. Then you are done and don't have a bill to settle on the morning of your departure.

seems they prefer if you pay when checking in ....with us dollars .....I got a 60 or 70 (maybe more) top floor....really like the room .....but I offered 50 cash per night and he took it ....later a friend of mine told me that I got a great deal on it

I stay at LA now, but when I was staying at Castillo, I always paid cash when I checked out. Now, I stayed there about 20 times, so maybe it was a case of them knowing me...

Feel kind of bad about switching to LA because Darren, Marta & Patrizia (when she was there) always made me feel at home, but the rooms at LA are better.

The "pre-pay" answers surprised me, I never knew people paid first there! While I'd be happy to pay first at Castillo, I've never been asked. Typically I just pay at check-out, just like most hotels in the states.

Pay the hotel on the way in? Pay the Chicas on the way out? Does CR do everything differently than the rest of the world?

I paid the night before check-out. They were great. I don't think I even gave them a credit card number upon check-in.

I prefer to pre-pay when I check in simply because the bill is out of the way and I don't have to worry about losing the cash later or not spending the money on chicas etc.

My favorite hotel in SJO. Since most of my stays are for a month or two, I like to downsize my cash right away. So I pay the majority after talking with Darren. Then I settle up the rest the day before I leave. Darren is the best hotel manager I have ever met.

I pay when I arrive, Cash US and get all the discounts. As said Darren is great along with evryone else. So I do not worry. So, I like getting it out of the way. If I am broke for some reason. I will have my room and exit tax paid. I do that upon arrival also. Would just need cab fair to the airport. Just feel better that way.

when you guys were booking a hotel room at the castillo, did you have to provide them with a credit card number? I am kind of hesitant to provide them with this kind of info. since I have never dealth with the castillo before or even been to CR before...is this fine to do? thanks!
