Returning next month(13-16) Normally stay at thr DR however have booked room at Sportsman (El Rey) in the modern wing. Is this a good choice? Dont want to be in the main lobby near the bar. Input appreciated also anybody in town that week. Thanks

El Rey is in the Modern wing, the first (actually, 2nd -- the first is Ilusion) room on the left as you walk into the wing from the bar, past the computer area and the doors.

The room's door faces the inside bar directly, so everyone can see you coming and going if they are looking. You can stand in the door way and observe the action but you are removed from it.

I happen to like this room -- it's large, comfortable, and has a kitchen area (fridge and sink) and an outdoor terrace where you and your guests can sit in privacy (it has a roof and walls).

If you are a light sleeper, may not be for you -- you'll have traffic going past the room to / from the Mansion all day and night.

My two cents,

mh

I like the El Rey for all the reasons mentioned above. Plus, I also like the Hermosa right across the hall. The noise doesn't bother me, and proximity to the bar/pool area makes it easy to slip away with a new friend on a moment's notice! No chica fee, better than HDR!
