You gotta be stupid to want to drink that horse piss in the US with so many fine beers available. Only half decent CR beer is Rock Ice.

Well, it beats the pants off the commercial beers here in the US - Coors, Bud, Miller and the like. Plus no other beer evokes such strong and evocative memories of hot, sweaty, long, memorable sessions with the ladies in CR like a nice cold Imperial here in the states.

Not a snob, but I find that if I drink 10 beers I'm extremely full. So I hit the booze, specifically Stoli n soda. I don't feel as full after 10 Stoli n soda (however the blackout train picks me up early). So now on occasion I'll have a beer and treat it like a meal. The taste is very important to me.

IMHO, Imperial sucks. But it does bring back GREAT mammories whenever I have one in the states...

Beachbumm,
Seriously dude, if you are drinking this much and blacking out you might have a problem. I don't know you so don't take this personally.

My rule of thumb is, if you are over the age of 30 (well beyond the age of stupidity) and you drink to excess then you have some kind of abuse problem. The major exception to this is a special occasion (wedding, promotion, etc) or a visit to Costa Rica. When you are on vacation you can do what ever you want and it does not count.

Estebanh-

I appreciate you looking out for me and I agree, abuse of anything (alcohol, drugs, poosie) can be a bad thing. Especially if you are over the age of 30 or over the age of being considered young and allowed to make a fool of yourself. So I have to say I was kidding. While in CR I only drink and get laid twice a week...Night time and daytime :D

This exchange does demonstrate what this Board is partially about--virtual strangers with a common interest looking out for each other, even with the jokes and friendly teasing. I ask seriously--Where else are you going to find that?

Jazz-

You'll find it on any random afternoon at the SL while sitting there by yourself. I'm in a cold part of the east coast and I think the only thing keepin me warm inside is the fact that I'm less than 2 months away from being at my fortress of solitude, Las Palmas at the SL!!!!! Nothing like walkin out of your room, making a casual right turn and looking at a bar fool of dudes drinkn and women circlin. Nothin but margargaritas and senoritas!!!

Can't wait.

Exactly my point, Brother BB2006--90+% of those gents are either Brothers or are cognizant of the Board, and Brother True Sportsman and BKTuna either know them personally or have read their posts and know their personas--would that be true if we were all a bunch of unconnected strangers? I think not.
OK, now back to another episode of Breaking Bad--I just finished the 7-part miniseries Generation Kill--and how true is that? Very. We live in the era of great television--if you are selective.

Imperial has been available in Central Illinois for at least a year and half. Now, if I could only find Presidentes from the Dominican, I would be super thrilled. Imperial gave me the worst hangover I have ever had in my 46 years of existence on this planet.

righty tighty Brother CVCap and especially when I have so many good alternatives available. But then I don't want the shock when in CR and all there is, is Imperial. "Steady pace wins the race."

I think Imperial is crap, but I'm always upset that I can never find Coors Light down in CR. I just love the taste of the rockies.

To each his own. I'd prefer Imperial to any light beer in America - as I once heard, what does American beer and a canoe have in common? They're both phucking close to water. Made me laugh so hard I got beer up my nose.

Well, I've been drinking beer for 42 years, so here's my opinion...
ALL beer in CR pretty much sucks, even worse than most beers in the States. If you think otherwise, then you don't know your beer. If you rank most American beers as a '6' (10 being the highest), I'd rank the CR beers as a '4'. Of course, it's all relative. American beers pale in comparison to the best beers in the world, i.e. Bitburger from Germany, or Pilsner Urquell (the best beer in the world in my opinion) from the Czech Republic. I think one of the best beers in North America is Molson Golden from Canada. The first one tastes rather normal, but after that, it actually becomes an excellent beer. About four years ago, Budweiser produced a beer in the States called World Select (it came in a green bottle). It was an excellent beer, one of the best I've ever tasted! It retailed for about $7.00 for a six-pack. It's a shame they stopped brewing it after a year or so. Damn, that was a great beer! My amigo Johnnie Black in Miami can attest to that!

Mass produced lager beers are pretty much the same everywhere. Most of them are owned by three huge brewery conglomerates. There is really no difference in the quality of the product between A-B(Inbev), coors, miller, bitburger, heineken, imperial, etc. There are only minor differences in flavor profiles, usually based on the type of hops they use. Many of them use rice instead of barley as well.
I prefer small craft breweries, and many of the best in the world are right here in the good ol USA. The only country that has one up on us is Belgium. I am not, however, too much of a snob to spend an afternoon drinking 10 - 15 "lawnmower beers"!

Are you serious? I concur with everything you said, but you can't put Bitburger in that same category. Was that a missprint? I've been to the brewery in Bitburg, which is not too far from Luxembourg. The Belgian beers, in my opinion, are a little overrated. I stand by my statement that the best beers are brewed in Germany and the Czech Republic.

German breweries, for the most part, still comply with the now repealed Reinheitsgebot(sp?), or German Purity Law. This law prohibited any brewer to use ingredients other than water, malted barley, and hops in beer (this was written before the discovery of yeast). In some ways, this is good, but in my opinion, it limits the creativity in brewing resulting in boring beer.
Most mass produced beers adhere to the same rule because it is the cheap and easy way to make beer. While people may like certain mass produced beers over others, the quality of the product is pretty standard across the board.
You may not like Belgian beers, but Trappist Monks use the highest quality ingredients and brewing methods to produce a superior product. Does this mean they taste better than coors light? Not necessarily. Taste is a matter of personal opinion.
Ok I am done hijacking this thread. Let's get back to more important issues, such as phucking nubile Latinas!
