You could not pay me to stay there.

I am sure for the right $$ a girl could walk out of the HDR carrying anything she wanted.

They do not give a rats a** about you!! Last December I had a long night, stayed at Dunn Inn that trip, but found myself at the bar next morning in DR. I order a bloody mary, throw it down and ask the bar keep for a glass of water. I explained I was dehydrated from night before. He told me they would not serve me a water, Management would not allow it. I proceeded to explain that alcohol dehydrates a person and I needed a glass of water and insisted. I was piss** and bulled up to him and insisted on talking to management and would not leave or back down. (I had a bad hang over and was trying to go for a cure with bloody marys and water). I was escorted up the stairs by two security goons and presented to some a** behind a wooden desk and proceeded to try to explain my intended hang over cure and that while drinking I sometimes need a glass of water. He pretty much tried to ignore me, wich p**sed me off more. I got about six inches from his face, started to reach up to place my hand on his shoulder as he stood up and tried to walk away. I was immediately attended to by a security goon. I decided a glass of water at the bar was not worth it and headed back down the stairs and out the door. ( Dam, that must have been a bad night before, have not acted like that since I was in my twenties) All over a glass of water, but it was something I really needed at the time. I have nothing bad to say about the security goons or bar help, but the Management due not give a rats a** about you, They lost the sale of a couple more bloody marys over a glass of water. I also stopped back in at night next day to watch the parade, ordered a top shelf scotch at the bar then stiffed them on it and left. I felt we were even then and have not returned. This lack of water service cost them an immediate $30 in lost drink revenue, 2 to 3 Bloody marys and a Dewars scotch and all my future business. Brothers give your business to Bill at SL or BK at the Dunn Inn, They need our money to buy a large boat in the South Pacific.

Why not just buy a bottle of water and avoid all the problems?

You are buying a drink so why should you have to also purchase a bottle of water? I have never had a bartender refuse me a glass of water when I was buying a drink. In fact I can never remember anyone in a bar or restaurant refusing me a glass of water even if I was not purchasing anything.

Now do I agree with this?

Absolutely not! The bartender was most likely not the same bartender that refused him the glass of water and even if she was it was not her decision but a policy of management that she was following. By not paying for the drink he stiffed the bartender not the HDR. She most likely had to pay for the drink and knowing the "employee friendly policy of HDR management" she might have been terminated or suspended at the very least.

The DR sucks big time. The few times I stayed there I played the slot machines whebever I ran out of leche and needed to kill some time and most of the freekin machines were broken and couldn't take any bills. When I asked a security douchebag by the machines to help he just said he could not do anything and walked away with an attitude. Phuck them at the HDR!!! Please stay at the CRT Sponsor Hotels, they are great friendly places that truly care about our patronage. I stood at the Amistad during Super Bowl weekend and it was great. Next I will be at the Dunn Inn with my wingman the weekend of May 6th-10th. Hope to meet some of my brothers there or the SL

HDR is OK if you understand the rules. It is Disneyland for adults, and everytime I have been to Disneyland in the US I have been royally fleeced, but I had a good time. I am always on guard there, it is not as laid back as the SL, but it it is a fine show if you keep your wits about you. I have learned this from experience. I would never stay there but I see lots of clueless non-CRT members going upstairs to pay the chica fees and I find it amusing, part of the show. Obviously the HDR bars have their own rules about no water, no cigars, etc., but "la comedia e stupenda"! I have to go back, like a fly to a pile of dogsh*t.

Irish,

I was half way to the door before I realized I had not paid for the scotch and figured the hell with it. I have bartended myself for many years. Their are several ways a good bartender can make up a drink every now and again. It was not originally intentional, I was not getting any good service and if she did get stuck and they did terminate her ( I really doubt it) She could make more as a provider . Maybe I did her and us a favor. Yeah, I am making excuses for my wrong actions. Usually I am the straightest most honest guy you could ever meet. Believe I asked to buy a bottle of water and they did not have one, the other morning. I just get really bad vibes from the place, feel like I am feeding the devil in thier, don't get those vibes any where else in town.

I never hear many guys talk about the Hotel Inca Real. This is a diamond in the rough. It's even part of the CRT discount package. Close to HLH and the Clarion. Great internet, breakfast and no chica fee.

Here's a link to the Hotel Inca Real. Click on the Union Jack for the site in English. They come on the name honestly--they have an affiliate hotel in Quito, Ecuador:

BTW the picture at the Bar shows what looks to be one of Our Crowd sitting with his "date", though it could be a backpacker.
