Add another one to the list that will be making my way down to Costa Rica in 12 days :P . I've been browsing the boards absorbing plenty of info but now I decided to make my presence known. This will be my first trip to the CR as I'm meeting friends where two of them has been there before. They are staying at the Del Rey and the Sleep Inn. I originally made reservations at the DR. Between my experience of being a frequent traveler to Rio de Janeiro and reading these forums...... I decided to relocate to the SL. The apartment that I rented while in Rio on my very first trip was in the belly of the beast being right next to Help Discoteca (R.I.P as the government had it shut down in Jan), I'm fully aware of the nuisances that can occur. The room I want (El Rey) was booked. Only the standard large rooms by the courtyard were available (is this a good room?). Well enough typing, any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sr, Safado jaja

I've heard those courtyard rooms were noisy but doesn't that mostly quiet down when the bar closes at midnight?...And what time does it get uproarious in the AM?

The noise wouldn't be a problem. I was thinking more of the size of the room.

Its always best to inquire the name of the room when asking these questions. Whenever a reservation is secured, they know which room your going to so its best to ask for the name.

Its not so much the noise at night..it is the "pitter patter of ho*ker heels" on the tile at all hours of the madrugada that always bugged me...

Check the Morazan just across the street from the Del Rey or what I like to call ground zero and at only $47. a night and that is with tax also no chica charge great people, if you stay at SL you will find yourself in a cab all the time going back and forth. Good Lust, LOL

Thanks for the replies so far fellas!! I didn't think I would be catching a cab back and forth between the Del Rey and SL unless it was at night. Would there be a problem walking between the two during the day? My main reason that I decided to stay at the DR was because all my friends will be leaving two days earlier than me (they don't know this yet haha). So I figured I would mingle more around SL since I will be alone. Unless I'm told the ladies around DR are that much more attractive............I may reconsider

There's no problem walking between the two, esp during the day. If you get a chance to stay at the SL, I would do so. The minute your friends leave, you'll have tons of wingmen just hanging out at the SL....

There is as Brother Cujo'S said no problem walking between the 2 during the day as long as you are in some kind of reasonable physical shape--SJO is quite hilly. They don't call it the Gulch for nothing. I find I have to take a little breather between the Dunn Inn and the Lodge--but then I've been a smoker for 50+ years.

Also a great benefit of staying at the La Amistad and Dunn Inn and others in the area is the short walk to places like New Fantasy and HLH and of course the SL for the comaraderie after the MPs.

I think you made a wise choice moving. The SL bar closes at midnight so...... any self respecting monger isn't going to be sleeping at midnight anyhow so the noise.... I wouldn't think is a problem. If any thing the noise from the bar may help cover the screams coming from inside your room! LOL

I agree with everyone, I walk, during daylight, from the SL to DR all the time when I'm down there never had any kind of problem or even seen a problem. Try not to wear shorts, flowered shirts and socks with sandels. Don't look around in bewidlerment and act like you know where you are going and what you are doing even if you don't. You'll be fine.

As for the "looks" of the DR chicas compared to the SL chicas. There are just more chicas at the DR. I, personally, like the vibe and the more "user friendly" attitude of the SL girls compared to the "show me the money" attitude of the Columbian hotties at the DR. Bide your time and don't just hop on the first thing that comes along and you'll find your hottie at SL and chances are you'll have a better time.

Don't listen to a thing I've said. I don't even listen to me but if you do..... You'll be fine.

I don't have strong opinions, but I have opinions. First, "any self respecting monger isn't going to be sleeping at midnight..." Not that I like using the term monger, but I have a pretty great time in SJO. If you have 2 girls at 11am, one at 3pm, and then another at 10pm, do I really have to stay up past midnite to gain respect?

Funny observation. Flowered shirts, socks n sandles.

Right on with the "show me the money" attitude.
