American Adds Daily Flight From New York To San José

American Airlines is expanding its coverage in Costa Rica with an additional flight between New York's JFK International airport and San José's Juan Santamaría International airport beginning on April 6th, the airline announced.

The San José flights will be available five days a week, departing the Big Apple at 3:35pm everyday except Friday and Sunday, landing in Costa Rica at 7:15pm. The return flight leaves at 8:25am and arrives at JFK at 3:40pm, every day except Saturday and Monday.

American currently has four daily flights to San José from Dallas, Miami and New York

No mistake. That is the April schedule and DST is in effect. So SJO is 2 hours behind JFK. Works out to 5:15 gate to gate time northbound and 5:40 southbound.

The worst part is if you purchase an American Airlines ticket, then you would have fly on thier airline. I'd rather stay home.

The good thing is that this is a NONSTOP flight. The bad thing is the schedule. They revised the schedule a little since they first announced this in November Original times, but it still sucks. Leave JFK at 3:30pm and leave SJO at 8:25am. It'll take 2 hours to get to JFK at that hour and an hour in line for takeoff, and then you gotta get up at 5am for the 8:25 flight home.

The Taca schedule is perfect, leave JFK at 5:20am, get to SJO 9:25am. Leave SJO at 6pm, get home at 2am.

Geee Orange, your awfully optimistic the plane will even make it to the line. I'll put 100$ on a scheduling delay, equipment malfunction or the plane your suppose to fly out on didn't make it yet.

At least if I get on the plane, I get the impression we'll eventually make it. Otherswise its the listen to BS flight delay carousel in the waiting area.

The last few months if you chose the non-stop flt from DFW-SJO, the price has been about $500 each way. So a RT ticket from DFW-SJO non-stop will run about $1000 :( Going thru MIA runs about $600 RT. I guess having the only non-stop flt from DFW gives AA an opportunity to administer premiun priceing :?:
