I tried it out and its OK, but hardly the best in CR. I can name a few better places off the top of my head, one being pizza hut. It is very greasy pizza, if you like that style.

If you like Pizza Hut, you'll never get many votes to be the new CRT official food critic. :D :D

Not bad pizza at La Taberna in Escazu, got an opinion on that I.D. and V.B.?

PIZZA who give a rats ass. start talking about eating some good pu*sy and I listen. Pizza in Miami Sucks all we have is Pizza Hut and Domino's.

Missed this until now. Don't where you live but if you ever get to West Kendall try Marinos or Mike's both at 137 Ave and Kendall Drive. A little further west go to Steve's at 157 and Kendall. He also still has his original place on South Dixie at about 180 street.

Any of those places for real NY pizza. Miami is full of mom & pop pizza places with good stuff stay away from the chains like Dominoes, Pizza Hut, Papa John's etc. if you want a good pie.

Or just visit me sometime and I'll take to out for REAL pizza, not that wannabe NY pizza.

But wait till next week, we're getting another 18" of snow today and tomorrow. The airports will be closed.

NY pizza is no different then Philadelphia NY style pizza or Miami NY style pizza. Before you get all excited and say BS let me give you my credentials for saying that.

I was born and raised just outside NYC. I lived outside of Philadelphia where my brother in law owned a very successful pizza shop in South Philly. I lived for 20 plus years in Miami. I ate pizza in all those places and IMHO there is absolutely no difference in a well made NY style pizza in any of those places and there are schlock NY style pizza in all those places. It is not the location that makes a good or bad pizza it is the skill of the maker, the recipe for his dough and the quality of his ingredients that make the difference.

Boyd,

Geez sorry for such a late reply, just happened to see your request today. The name of the place is Cerro's in San Antonio de Escazu. Had a pizza there this week, price is higher, but just as good.

After hearing so many good things about Cerro's decided to try it last night. Have to agree they make a very good pizza. Baked in a brick oven over a wood fire is always better then an electric oven.

Still have to get to Solamia recommended ny VB and La Taberna recommend by Flyboy who also recommend Cerro's. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Not saying that Pizza Hut is the best thing around, but its better than Sole Mio.

I will try La Taberna this week. Di Bartolo still has great pizza if you can deal with the snotty attitude and service (go takeout).

Mangamos is the same type of thin crust greasy pizza as Sole Mio but 10 times better.

If you go to LaTaberna, bring a hot date, the owner who looks like Einstein will love to come over and chat. Also, you can bring your own wine, they'll open it for you and give you glasses. Given the cost of wine at most places, that'll save you a colone or two.

Guys, if visiting Puntarenas, stop by Matobe's. The best pizza I have had in Costa Rica, baked in a wood-fired brick oven

It's located near Hotel Tioga.

Where is La Taberna? It sounds like you are describing La Taverna which is located next to the shell station in Escazu San Raphael.

I.D., exactly ..........right next to the Shell station which is next to Saretto's supermarket. Have I used a "b" where I should have used a "v"? Not to hijack the thread, but their chicken parm is outstanding. He calls it something else on the menu, but it's just like chicken parm. Very generous portions.
