Has anybody noticed the MAJOR price increase for flights to CR. Seems like a round trip is about $500 (Spirit) and it used to be about $300 all in. I checked AA and it seems that they are about $800 (non-direct). I checked AA out of Miami and it's not much cheaper. I know it's season time, but this seems a bit pricey. Also, it seems that AA has less direct flights out of Ft. Lauderdale than they use too.

http://www.farecompare.com shows prices well under $300 R/T from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to San Jose (SJO) on Spirit and American Airlines.

FLL to SJO $148/($210) NK
FLL to SJO $158/($220) AA

I fly that route and the fare is always $235. I just booked one for travel on the 4th feb and it was $235..

Airlines are trying to boost revenue AND cut costs by reducing the # of flights. This means every flight is even more like a cattle car. Yee dogies.

I was looking at Feb 12th -Feb 15th. I guess it must be the long weekend that shot rates up.

That "yield-management" software the airlines use can really bite you in the ass on winter holiday weekends.

They change their fares every Tuesday.. So the best time to check is about noon every Tuesday. if they have any short special it will show up but gone by Wednesday. so you have to jump on it right away...

its weird AA flight 2113 FLL to SJO doesnt even show up anymone after 2/8/10. did they discontinue this flight? but yes it does seem like all FLL to SJO flights are a lot higher at the moment, which sucks cause I was going to go for a weekened in feb, but they can suck it.

2113/2112 is disco as of 2/10, flew it last night, however the same flight now leaves MIA to SJO.
So there should be 4 flights from MIA to SJO by mid Feb. I miss the FLL, just have to pray to the Tica God to bring it back...

ps. there is new customs area now at FLL.....

aww man thats ridiculous, every time i flew flight 2113 it seemed filled, i guess now the only cheap option out of FLL is spiritair. I flew spiritair one time for around $175 round trip. but would much rather pay the extra $50 or so to do flight 2113 again.

i just paid 288 RT spirit , yesterday it was 40$ cheaper, but i didnt have my passport on me : (

Spirit is the only reasonable 1 right now, go directly to therir site for the best price

In a week you will see American drop their price. it always $235.00 from FTL and MIA they change their fare's on Tuesday. So if you see a good price you can always put it on hold for 24 hours that's what I always do...
