Hi I'm putting together a trip in May for 3 nights in Jaco and 4 nights in SJ. Four of us are making the trip but 2 have never been. Just to keep thing simple my wingman and I decided to stay at the HDR. I went to the HDR web page and I could not find any room rates. anyone know what a standard room is going for?
Thanks Rock

They don't post rates on their website. They ask for your credit card number to guarantee the reservation without telling you what they will charge you. They make it up as they see fit. Some posted that standard rooms are $90 + tax = $103. PLUS $10 chica fee EACH.

I concur with Orange. They don't tell you that they will place a hold on funds before you're arrival. When they make the charge and the charge amount seems to be random.

First and second trip I booked with HDR. No funds were ever withheld. 3rd trip...I booked two standard rooms at $103 each. They put a hold on $180 (Debit Card). I asked them about the charge and they said it had always been their policy. Three days later the hold was taken off.

I have more gripes about HDR than about LA or SL combined. But for me, staying at the epicenter of action is worth dealing with HDR's inconveniences.

Have you tried calling them? They are offering discounts in their ads in AM Costarica. I looked at the rooms there a few years ago and they were nasty.

Using their website e-mail them with what type of room you would like and what days you will be staying. They will reply with a list of what rooms are available and what the rate would be. Their rates vary according to what time of the year is.

i know i saw their rates somewhere...hmmmm... i had no problem with my bill and checkout was very friendly, we paid 120 for a very large room 411, it was quiet and had a great view of all the action, u could be entertained for hours looking out that window, the room was QUIET, hot water took like 10 min ! id stay there again in a sec! ( and may soon) but only for a short stay
I wasnt very pleased about my bill from LaAmastad being more $ then what i signed, it was in US dollars, the responce i got was the rate changed, granted it was less then 5 dollars, just seemed a little petty, they said they would take it off next time

They are offering a 20% discount on most rooms. I have stayed there at least 10 times, rooms are not nasty.

I think you got a better deal at the Amistad. I mean, we're talking less than 5 dollars, but you're ok with paying a $10 chica fee each time at the DR?
