Went there for lunch last trip (May) after a walk through Sabana (park)
with a favorita. Service was good food outstanding.
I love sea food. Wish So. Cal. had them around.

I love this place. I was in town only 4 nights this weekend and had 2 dinners there.

Best ceviche in Costa Rica, and less than $3.50. Del Mar's is pretty good too, but it's $6.

2 fish dinners with a non-alcoholic beverages plus 3 ceviches was about $24 each time.

Ate here twice in Jan 2010 and three times when we were in town April of 2009. Rock Lobster tails for $3.00 had to get 4 of them, lots of food with inexpensive prices. Be careful though as your eyes get larger than your stomach.....

Lobster tails cost around $13 not $3.00

$ 3.00 x 4 = 12 so the guy was off a buck

You are correct if you purchase it off the menu like that. We had smaller tails that were 2250 Colones each so they were about $4.00 a piece and they were ordered as add ons to the regular meal that we ordered.

Seems a year or so ago they were all shut down when the Ministerio de Salud found a butt-load of e-coli in the food & kitchen. There were reportedly many, many sick folks out there.

I've always enjoyed the restaurants but my novia is now quite gun shy. Are they as good as ever and have the sanitation issues been resolved? We haven't been back since the news hit last year.

Thanks.

The Moravia location was the one with the health issues the others stayed open.

IMO the Pricessa Marina has gotten pricey for the quality of the food. Throw in the lack of ambiance and noise level of the Sabana restaurant I no longer go there :( . YMMV :D :(

I eat at the one in Moravia at least once a month for the past year, I've never gotten sick.. I go to Balcon del Mariscos sometimes as well and their prices have gone up also..

I too have found both Balcon and Princesa to be over priced and lacking ambience.

Princesa Marina has raised prices over the past year or two to a point where a meal for 2 now costs up to 15-20k. It used to be about 10k. The ceviche is still best in town.

And so in the likely case I missed it, where is a good seafood restaurant or two, Greengo?

I was just thinking and came to the realization that I've never been to any seafood restaurant in San
Jose that had that "WOW" factor. I've bought and cooked my own and had some nice seafood on the coast.
