When I lived close to Foxboro stadium, I got this tip although way too late to do me any good as I was relocating.

The visiting team has a certain allocation of tickets which they may not be able to sell, if that's the case they are returned to the home team and sold on a Wednesday morning at the stadium ticket office. It's possible to pick up a couple at the regular price.
