The question here is very specific - please reference only someone you know personally, not someone you've heard about from a friend, or in the news, etc. Also, must have been through heterosexual contact only (whether vaginal, anal, or otherwise).

This is by far the most informative poll I've seen on this board.

What I glean from this poll confirms what I have read in numerous white papers on the same subject.

I would love to see the details on the one yes vote.

When I hear about supposed heterosexuals getting hiv, I always think of Magic Johnson........so for those who also think about Magic, here is the link to a real good article about him and the chances of a hetero getting the hiv virus.

My vote was yes.

I don't know the whole story. A girl from my old neighborhhod died from AIDS about 12 years ago. She was not a drug user nor a sex worker. She was a regular girl who slept with the wrong guy.

I could happen to any of us.

Again according to what I've read. Regarding the one or two people who would say they knew someone who contracted HIV I would have guessed that they would all be females.

Yes I do, and yes it was a woman.

This woman was in Alcoholics Anonymous, and began a relationship with a man she met at a meeting. The man was also a recovering IV drug user who had shared needles. When she became pregnant, she went to the doctor and discovered she was HIV positive. Her boyfriend was too.

My gut feeling is that the hetero's who get it either won't admit that they've had a homesexual experience, or they've done I.V. drugs.

I know a shit load of people... as I'm sure most of you do.

And for as prevalent as AIDS is supposed to be... I don't know one person who wasn't gay or a drug user, who died from it.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not suggesting that you go out and have unprotected sex.

When I was at Berkeley, at Professor named Duesberg had a theory that only gays and IV drug users get it. Everyone scoffed at him. But from everyone I've talked to, I simply can't get a handle on where the supposedly hetereo, non drug users who have/die of AIDS are?

I know a ton of people who've died from cancer. And from auto accidents. None from AIDS, though. YMMV.
